Their numbers aren't as superior to Price, Cobb and Moore as you might think, and those pitchers have been slowed by injuries, but if they're healthy going into the playoffs they collectively could be better. I'd still rather face Tampa, especially since we'd only face Price once, but so much of baseball playoffs is about momentum and the Rays have it now.

In all honesty, I don't care who they end up playing. Just don't drop to the #3 seed.

Werd
Every team that's getting in is a Buzzsaw. There's a few good teams that won't even make the postseason.

The A's are Jared Weaver's b***h. Oh well, 3 games left, but vs M's who've owned the A's this year. C'mon A's, get hot going into the playoffs and DO NOT LOSE the #2 seed.

Since we own the tie breaker over Detroit, our magic # for the #2 seed is 2.
Boston's magic # over the A's for the #1 seed is also 2.

With the Red Sox win and the Tigers loss the Red Sox and A's are now down to a magic # of 1 for the 1st and 2nd seed, respectively. Which means depending on how the game ends tonight either the #1 or #3 seed will be locked in. To get the #1 the A's need to sweep the Mariners and Boston needs to lose Sat & Sun. Conversely, for the A's to drop to the #3 they need to get swept and Detroit needs to win Sat & Sun.

Alright - Detroit is now locked in to #3. A's need to go 2-0 and have Boston go 0-2 to get #1, so it looks like Detroit again in Game 1 at the Coliseum next Friday.

Josh Donaldson wants a long-term extension
probably wont get it lol. under team control for a while but he's very deserving
He won't be a free agent until after the 2018 season, and he's gonna be 32.
A's Josh Donaldson likes idea of long-term deal
Josh Donaldson is an MVP candidate - and he also could be a player the A's would like to sign to a long-term deal.
If Donaldson remains among the top tier ofAmerican League third basemen through next season, as expected, then he might cost the A's quite a bit in arbitration. Donaldson is on track to be a "super two" player, reaching arbitration after two years of service time rather than the more usual three years.
Donaldson said he and his agent, Hunter Bledsoe, have talked about the possibility of a multiyear deal "and we absolutely love it," Donaldson said. "But it has to be good for both sides. I have really enjoyed my time here."
Oakland has not signed a young position player within the organization to a multiyear deal sinceKurt Suzuki, then 26, signed a four-year, $16.25 million deal in 2010. Donaldson will be 28 next year.
"It's going to be interesting," he said. "I'm not getting any younger, but I feel like I've put myself in a position to be able to play every day."
Donaldson has been durable, starting 154 of Oakland's 160 games. He was robbed of an All-Star appearance, but is likely to finish in the top five in MVP voting, which could be pricey in arbitration.
"I'm a guy who's been downplayed my entire career," Donaldson said. "Even when I was a first-round draft pick (in 2007), I took 10 percent less than the guy before me. I just want something fair, something that's justified.

So with tomorrow's game totally meaningless to the post-season, does Melvin play Donaldson? After today he's sitting at .301, and while I know Josh would play if he is asked, does Melvin put him in the game?
