3/5
2HR
5RBI
I wonder if he will reach 30 by the break?
most likely
26 now
Then we'll be waiting for valrod to label him on roids.
haha, no. valrod already thinks he is on roids.
if a player succeeds, he is on roids = valrod logic
I bet you're hearing the pace Chris Davis is going, he will finish with 60+ home runs.
former part time player who never hit more than 21 HRs before last year and is on pace for 60 HRs, lol ROIDS
The people who doubt Davis just havent done any research on him.
First off, he has always had MASSIVE power. In the Rangers organization he was basically a 10 cent head guy (at the plate) who had million dollar power.
In 6 seasons in the minor leagues, he hit .318 overall, so the idea that he was only a Mark Reynolds type hitter was a misconception. With Texas, he also never got consistent playing time in the Majors. He was moved up and down several times, and even though they didnt have a star player blocking 1B, they never committed to letting him settle in every day.
Last year was his first ever season with full playing time, as well as being allowed to stick to one defensive position. He thrived with the continuity, and hit .270 with 33 HR in only 515 AB's. It was simply a matter of adjusting his swing and approach at the plate. the Orioles hitting instructors told him he was taking WAY too much BP. He was a workout fiend, and was basically tiring himself out, taking like 150 cuts a day. They re-designed his workouts down to about 50 swings, and had him practice hitting to all fields.
This season his walk rate has doubled. He has 32 walks in 264 AB's. He had 37 walks in 515 AB's all of last season. His walks are up, hes hitting the ball with power to all fields, and already has 22 doubles. He had 20 doubles total last year. His slumps this season have been short-lived, and hes bounced right back to a fundamentally sound approach at the plate every time.
Davis is breaking out as the next superstar 1B in the American League
Also, based on Jose Bautista getting tested 16 times from 2010 to 2012, id say Davis wouldve been caught by now. He just needed to be pointed in the right direction, and given a chance. Hope the Rangers were happy with Koji Uehara...What a trade by Baltimore.
Very well put
The Rangers wanted quick results with him, and when they couldn't wait for him to arrive, off he went away.
I wonder if they did the same thing to Justin Smoak, another potential monster at 1B. They ship him off to Seattle and so far it has been slow.
A player by the name of Adrian Gonzalez had to be sent to a change of scenary to get going.
Carlos Pena is another one of mention
There is something about the Rangers and their development of potential first base sluggers.

Bad idea. Cliff Lee is always on losing teams in the WS.

Cabrera and Kershaw are obvious. Dont we have a rule that you cant keep a player forever and limited to 3 yrs? If not, we should.

Nope. We've discussed this before. I honestly don't have an interest in doing so because it makes you pay attention to "rookies" in the draft. A lot of times guys like Oscar Taveras/Wil Myers/Jurickson Profar will go in the last few rounds. Makes it seem more like a REAL MLB team. Either you draft better, or you won't compete long term.

Well its about time you finally had a team that could compete anyway.

Really? I dont remember that. I have been in the title game the last 3 years and the winners have been me, Sac, and Boise. Wont be happening for me this year though. No hitting stars finally caught up.
