The every four year tournament, created due to the Olympics getting rid of baseball, is back again. Ballplayers from around the world and the majors get to suit up and represent their country.
Meanwhile, Spring Training turns into an extended audition for those not participating, especially for the non-invitees.

you gotta like Japan, they've won the past two WBC's, play fundamental baseball. At the end of these things there is always some Japanese pitcher everyone is drooling for

The timing of this tournament couldn't be more stupid.
No team wants their best players in this instead of spring training, and thus it's hard to take the WBC seriously

I don't understand why it doesn't happen in November. Both the NPB (Japan) and MLB end in November.
