What's everybody's thoughts on if Ron Artest is a HoFer? I personally think he'll get it. Not a first ballot, but eventually.

There is no NBA HOF right? Isn't it a basketball HOF? That includes high school, college and NBA? That is what I thought.

Anyway, IMO, Artest is not HOF material.

Right. It's just the Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame. Named after the games inventor. It covers the entire world of basketball.

Lol oh. Well he should go in the boxing HOF IMO
I don't think Artest gets in, and I don't think he deserves to.

Doesn't even deserve a conversation about it.

Why do you say that?

Absoutely not. No f**king way is Ron Artest a Hall of Famer in any sense of the word.

This
Stoney you're off your rocker if you think Artest's a HOFer

Look at his credentials:

FG% .418
Points 11,757 (14.2 ppg)
Rebounds 3,908 (4.7 rpg)
Assists 2,464 (3 apg)
Steals 1,543 (1.9 spg)

NBA champion (2010)
NBA Defensive Player of the Year (2004)
NBA All-Star (2004)
All-NBA Third Team (2004)
2× All-Defensive First Team (2004, 2006)
2× All-Defensive Second Team (2003, 2009)

Now look at Dennis Johnson's, who was overlooked for nearly 2 decades and barely got in, posthumously:

FG% .445
Points 15,535 (14.9 ppg)
Rebounds 4,249 (3.9 rpg)
Assists 5,499 (5.0 apg)
Steals 1,477 (1.3 spg)

3× NBA champion (1979, 1984, 1986)
Finals MVP (1979)
5× NBA All-Star (1979–1982, 1985)
All-NBA First Team (1981)
All-NBA Second Team (1980)
6× NBA All-Defensive First Team (1979–1983, 1987)
3× NBA All-Defensive Second Team (1984–1986)
#3 Retired by the Boston Celtics

And those are just numbers. Dennis Johnson was hugely instrumental in the 3 championships he helped win. Artest's contributions to the Lakers 2010 championship pale in comparison.

If Pau Gasol was American, would he be a HOFer?

He'd be on the fence. Probably not, though. That he's a 7x European player of the year winner, has 2 Olympic silvers and 3 Golds in FIBA play for Spain will be enough for him to get in when combined with his NBA accomplishments.

Ya, that's why I excluded his international accomplishments. If he was Bob Williams from Illinois, he wouldn't be a HOFer, IMO.

Perhaps, but he were American, maybe he wouldn't play as soft as he does.

Yes. His numbers are HOF worthy. about 19ppg, almost 10rpg, 1.7bpg, over 3apg etc. He is a HOFer just based on his NBA career.
