KEGster.. give it a rest. My God. I dont like the Lakers because I am a Warrior fan but I acknowledge their greatness. Maybe you didnt watch enough of James Worthy but he was an incredible player. If he was on another team where he HAD to score 28 per game he could have.
I was upset about the Gasol trade at the time and even have discussed it with Pete. However, in the end Pete was right. Memphis DID do well with that trade as did the Lakers. Yes, Gasol did turn the Lakers fortunes around but the trade was not one sided as you make it out to be.
I am enjoying the fact that the Lakers are down and that their future might not be bright but its foolish to not recognize how great this franchise has been. They drafted Vlade Divac late in Rd 1. They traded Vlade for a HS kid that was passed over by many teams and will go down as one of the best players in history. They made smart trades for draft picks to eventually get Magic and Worthy. Bottom line is this.. they made smart choices, smart trades, and won. Isnt that what a franchise is supposed to do?

More"news"...
and some more...
and lastly...
Jesus Christ...I almost just want the season to be over, I don't want to see/read anymore of any of this
Pau Gasol is privately expecting to be traded by the Los Angeles Lakers before the February deadline.
Gasol has been largely marginalized under Mike D'Antoni and is currently coming off the bench, though he is still averaging 30 minutes per game in January.
The Lakers agreed to trade Gasol in a deal for Chris Paul in December of 2011.
and some more...
Jim Buss decided for the Los Angeles Lakers to hire Mike D'Antoni instead of Phil Jackson largely out of a concern that the triangle offense would have pushed Steve Nash out, according to sources.
Buss thought hiring D'Antoni would trigger the Lakers' offense by reuniting him with Nash.
"The way this turns out," one league source connected to the hiring process said, "you've chosen not only Steve Nash over [Pau] Gasol, but maybe over Gasol and Dwight [Howard]."
If the Lakers had hired Jackson, the offense would be running through Gasol, Dwight Howard and Kobe Bryant in the post.
and lastly...
The Los Angeles Lakers remain confident that they will re-sign Dwight Howard and do not plan on entertaining a trade before the February deadline.
Sources say the one issue that could give make Howard hesitant about committing to the Lakers would be D'Antoni.
While D'Antoni was head coach of the New York Knicks, he told the front office that he preferred Tyson Chandler to Howard, according to a source.
The Lakers are confident the power of their brand, market and ability to pay him the most money will convince him to stay.
"Even if they're right, and Dwight stays, do you want Dwight unhappy and feeling uninvolved with D'Antoni?" said one source tied to both the Lakers and Howard.
Jesus Christ...I almost just want the season to be over, I don't want to see/read anymore of any of this

How is Wilt, Kareem, Shaq, Gasol, falling in your lap ''smart choices''. Hollywood lifestyle has more to do with Lakers success as any quote "brilliant move" like signing a coach with 6 previous Championship titles.
How can you downplay the Gasol trade this badly? The Lakers went from being a under .500 franchise & missing the playoffs to making the Finals 3 straight years. How is that ''doing well''. They were HANDED a championship. Only the NBA would allow this
The Grizzlies fell off the face of the Earth after making the playoffs for 3 straight years. Yes, what a marvelous trade 5 years & 2 Laker titles later. I'm supposed to be impressed by the Lakers amazing ability to rob other stupid (Only in the NBA) franchises?
Sixers after Wilt trade: Steady decline. Lakers won titles
Bucks after Kareem: Missed playoffs. Lakers won titles
Magic after Shaq: Missed playoffs. Lakers won titles
Grizzlies after Gasol: Missed playoffs. Lakers wont titles
^ What kind of legitimate Professional League would allow this? You are giving the Lakers franchise WAYYYY too much credit. They are essentially the Florida Marlins but in a fraudulent league

You really showed me, showing how the Lakers had a better record in the composite previous 3 seasons as well as the year before. A simple "I was wrong" would have sufficed.
BTW, let me fix this for you...
Laker trips to the Finals before trade: 28
Laker trips to the Finals after trade: 3
Grizzlies trips to the playoffs before trade: 3
Grizzlies trips to the playoffs after trade: 2 (and it will be 3, after this season)
The Grizzlies traded a good player in his prime for Marc Gasol, draft picks, and cap flexibility, which they used on Zach Randolph. Both Zach Randolph & Marc Gasol have been better than Pau Gasol for a couple of years now, and both were acquired as a result of the Pau Gasol trade. I know your seething rage toward the Lakers prevents you from seeing this, but the foundation of their (very good) team is directly attributable to this deal. It was a trade that helped both teams. And yes, I was saying that at the time as well.
Reply with whatever laughably irrational hatred you'd like. I'm done responding.
Nice attempt at downplaying Gasol. How exactly do you explain your franchise going from under .500 to 3 straight Finals? It's called having a TOP 5 Center fall in your lap. Something that only the NBA would allow
I'm going to assume you aren't involved in Business, based on your evaluation of the Gasol trade. By the way your quote ''good player'' Gasol will end up in the Hall of Fame. I'd love to see you spin how he was no better than Kwame Brown.

Kegster,
What is the purpose of your posts? PM me with the answer. Nobody is quite sure what you are trying to accomplish. If you can answer it, PM me...if not, don't post in here anymore.
That's the only option. Do not post it in here.

And yet I have posted countless statistics and facts to illustrate the reality of the situation
No worries, the Lakers dominance is over. Clippers have now stolen a good portion of the immense advantage the Lakers had playing in Hollywood. No longer will every inspiring rapper, actor, (insert another ghetto dream), sign to play with the Lakers. The new bargaining agreement will further cripple them. Get use to current day Lakers, because that's the future of your franchise.
