Nash and Kobe works. Healthy Bynum along with Gasol is very competitive.
Lakers seem to be trying to get all they can from Kobe's final dominant years

The Suns will receive 2013 and 2015 first-round picks and 2013 and 2014 second-round picks from the Lakers, according to the Arizona Republic.

Just remember who brought this Nash to Lakers to the WZ yesterday.
I still can't believe it got done, though. Woulda been even nicer a couple years ago.

Man...I'm surprised at the reaction to the Nash deal. The Lakers just added a guy who's still a Top 25 player or so without giving up any player on their current roster, and he plays the position of their biggest weakness. This is a VERY significant deal. It moves Kobe off of the ball, gives us two significant pick & roll options, and makes Bynum a whole lot better. Nash has always thrived off of playing with finishers. Hell he made some people think that Marcin Gortat was worthy of being traded for Dwyane Wade. (ahem)
Ya, he sucks on defense, but that's been true of the Lakers at PG for the last decade or so. It's been a couple of years since the Lakers got easy buckets, and Nash is one of the best in the business in this respect. Huge deal. My biggest concern is that he's gonna break down without the help of Phoenix's amazing training staff.
Lastly, apparently Grant Hill is either going to retire or join the Lakers.

f**k, man. Let's swap Bynum for D12 now. I don't care if it's just for one year. Nash & Howard pick & roll with Kobe & Pau on the weakside?

Really nice pickup that doesn't drip with insanity. One of the few.

Both Nash and Kobe demand the ball a lot. Less touches for Kobe, you think he will buy in? I mean, he's always been the go to guy, and I think in order for this to work Kobe may have to(cant think of the proper term) "take a back seat". to Nash and let him work his magic.

My understanding is that Kobe pushed REALLY hard to get Nash to come to the Lakers. Kobe loves the guy.
I believe that Kobe's ball domination has been more a function of necessity rather than inflexibility on Kobe's part. Look at the PGs & SFs that he's played next to. Old Ron Harper, Old Brian Shaw, Old Gary Payton, Rick Fox, Chucky Atkins, Smush Parker, Caron Butler, Luke Walton, Vladimir Radmanovic, Young & Old Derek Fisher, Trevor Ariza, Ramon Sessions, Ron Artest...there isn't a guy in that entire group that could get other guys easy shots on a regular basis. He's always HAD to be the guy that had the ball in his hands on the perimeter, and he just has too many miles on his legs these days to do that by himself on a championship team.
The best parallel I can give is the '08 Olympic Team. He was perfectly content to just be a lockdown defender, play off of the ball on offense, and guys like CP3 do what they do. Last year there was a poll amongst GMs and the question was asked "what player has the highest basketball IQ"? Steve Nash was #1, and Kobe was #2. I have no doubt Kobe's gonna love finding the seams on the off-the-ball cuts he's never really had the opportunity to make. And Nash will surely find him.
Now get me Howard!!!

man, dragic loss hurts. But Toronto lost out on both Steve Nash and Dragic, and now will turn to Houston for Lowry according to reports they want him bad. They should of did it draft night for 8th pick, Lowry was all star caliber before staph infection.

The reason I said this signing makes little sense is because I don't think it puts Lakers ahead of OKC. Now, if this helps bringing in another play - a lot of players will love to play with Nash - then it's a fantastic signing. But, just adding Nash to last year's group isn't enough and because Nash is so old - it will be a step backwards for the Lakers. Unless of course, they can land a big time player in the front-court.
I like Nash...and Kobe will love playing with Nash. I don't think Kobe has ever played with a half-decent PG in his career.
