It's hard to forget the first 4 years of that contract.
I laughed when Ray-f**king-Ratto came out with an article that says Zito has outperformed his contract. Yes, Zito has been excellent for us since the start of 2012, and if he continues to pitch like this I would love to bring him back with another contract to be our No. 5 starter. However, these past two seasons do not make up for the first 4 where Zito's contract tied our hands in FA and prevented us from signing players like Sabathia.
Regardless, I understand how the OP feels. It's very nice to actually trust Zito know and believe we can win any game he starts in.
It's also a weird feeling when Lincecum is the most unpredictable and least trustworthy pitcher on the staff. Outside of the Nationals, I don't think there's much of a argument that the Giants have the best starting rotation in the MLB, especially because of its depth.
