SEC overrated as usual. A top heavy conference that otherwise is mediocre to terrible.

Again, I'll freely admit that the Hogs stunk up the joint, but I am not sure you can use that loss as justification for the idea that a whole conference is overrated.

Yeah, lets just pretend the last seven years didnt happen and you might be right. You are right that it's top heavy though, but no one outside of maybe USC, and thats a big IF, could even challenge Alabama or LSU.

9-3 and an invite to the Cotton Bowl isn't the end of the world though.

just now sobered up. They're not worthy of being #2 anymore, not after playing like that.

Looking back at the titles and their OOC games:
2011 Alabama: beat an over rated Penn State team who finished 9-4 after gettilg creamed by mighty Houston....not a big win.
2010: Auburn: beat a 6-7 Clemson squad, not an impressive OOC game
2009: Auburn beat a 10-3 Virginia Tech squad, but it was at a neutral site so I don't count it as a truly tough OOC game
2008: Florida beat a 7-6 Miami team at home, not a tough OOC game
2007: LSU beats an 11-3 Virginia Tech team at home
2006: Florida beat the mighty Central Florida team at home....
My point is, sure the SEC is a top tier conference. But there is also an illusion of invincibility created by consistently weak OOC games and never travelling very far for their games.
I think they are the top conference, but a conferences chances of creating a national title contender go dramatically up when their teams play weak OOC games.
