Arenas' statement:
"I feel very badly that my actions have caused the NBA to suspend me, but I understand why the league took this action. I put the NBA in a negative light and let down my teammates and our fans. I am very sorry for doing that.
"While I never intended any harm or disrespect to the NBA or anyone else, my gun possession at the Verizon Center and my attempts at humor showed terrible judgment. I take full responsibility for my conduct.
"Earlier today, I called Commissioner Stern to apologize, and I hope we will be able to talk soon. I look forward to the day I can return to basketball. In the meantime, I will focus on dealing responsibly with this serious situation and I will continue to cooperate fully with the investigations by law enforcement and NBA authorities."
Didn't we just hear this a couple days ago?

ESPN.com reported Saturday that the Washington Wizards had reached out to the Rockets in an exploratory manner about a possible Gilbert Arenas-for-McGrady swap, but Houston has no interest in such a deal. Arenas ranks as one of the league's most difficult players to move with four seasons left after this one on a mammoth $111 million contract and a history of knee problems to rival McGrady's.
What was Houston trying to do?!
Edit.

Whatever anyone's opinion is, to the league, this is a huge deal. And to Arenas, apparently it's a funny joke.
Sorry, that's just dumb.
Actually that picture IMO helped Gilbert Arenas' standing with the Washington Wizards.
That picture proves that their is no violent tension in the Wizards locker-room. His teammates still love him.
Absolutely none of them have said that they were threatened by Gilbert's possession of firearms.
With the Wizards, maybe. With the NBA, no.

What a joke Arenas is. Another athlete that thinks he's bigger than life.

What's Crittenton getting? I think he should get punished too for saying he was gonna shoot his teammate in the knee.

Meh. I don't think he got in trouble because of that.
He got in trouble because he legitimately did not think that bringing guns to work was a bad idea.
He might be immature, and a somewhat flawed basketball player, but Gilbert Arenas is a good person.

Too bad Gilbert can't blame his behavior on being bipolar like Delonte, or he might have gotten off scot free.

I'm backing Arenas, like I did Mike Vick.
Everyone deserves a second chance, Gilbert made a poor choice now he needs to redeem himself.

He got what he deserved for being a moron. I think a 10 game suspension would be suitable if not a tad less but not only two games.

This is bulls**t
f**k you David Stern
f**k you NBA
I hope Gilbert appeals this or does something...if not...then maybe he should just go to Australia and ball it up there, s**t...Stern's doing this just to kill the PR the NBA's been getting for it (the unnecessary overload of PR that is, ridiculous how much attention this small little thing has gotten)...
Unfortunately, Gil's antics havent exactly, helped his case, but regardless, he doesnt deserve the punishment hes going to get (Im sure his punishment will easily pass SJ and Telfair's punishments for firearms, btw, did Delonte ever get in trouble for that possession of a firearm affair he had a while back?). As unfair as his punishment will he be...he unfortunately brought this upon himself by clowning a little too hard...
Ahh...damn...this is a sad day for me...a sad day...

Arenas is an idiot....
He should have just shut the f**k up after the incident, instead he joked about it and created another headline story after another. Everytime he opened his mouth another writer would dig up another Wild Wild west story about the NBA and how ghetto it has been in the past.
Stern started a dress code to make the NBA look less thuggish, how does Arenas and his gambling and guns make the NBA look?
