Young and athletic I agree. They are too old. Garnett and Allen they have to start looking at a long term replacement for. Trading Perkins was a mistake.
How was trading Perkins a mistake?
Celtics needed a long athletic player who could play a wing guy like Lebron come play time. They thought Green was it. He wasn't. The Celtics are trying to win NOW. Perkins offered them intangibles now...but long-term doesn't have much value as far as being a 2nd or 3rd option.
If they wanted to win NOW it would have been better to have a presence in the middle. When they traded Perkins and old Shaq got injured they didn't have one. Making them vulnerable.
He's one of the best perimeter defenders in the league, and only signed a 3 year/$9.5M deal with Memphis. That's one of the best contracts in the league, IMO.
