We had an offseason thread but training camp started on monday so i figured i might as well make thread for the season. im pretty excited since we added tyreke evans, casspi, brockman in the draft and we got sergio rodriguez from the trailblazers, then we added sean may, desmond mason, and melvin ely. it will be interesting to see whether any of the last 3 are worth a damn. i liked westphal as the coach, he was the guy i wanted. are the rest of you guys excited.

Ive grew up in sacramento my whole life and love bball and the kings. But this team is horrific and by far the worst in the league. Ticket prices have stayed extremely high and we have nobody to build a team around. Basically what I am saying is we suck badlyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy with no hope in sight!!!

yeah he was the guy i wanted on draft day. he might not be chris paul but i think he was the best player available and a good fit next to martin. kevin moves without the ball a lot and spots up for a lot of 3s, and he makes some backdoor cuts to get to the rim. the only time he has the ball in his hands is when he pulls up at the free throw line, or he drives, or if the point guard is pressured and kevin needs to bring the ball up. tyreke is going to run the floor a lot and drive and dish, that actually compliments martins game imo. i cant wait to see them together in the backcourt.

its not the same team dude. last year we had martin out for half the year, jason thompson was a rookie, we had 2 different coaches, salmons was a greedy ballhog, miller was slow as hell, beno decided to be a bum, and then we made midseason trades. this year i like the team better. thompson got a lot of experience last year, so did hawes, thats 2 young big men who can rebound and block shots. theyre both pretty active and this is year 2 of that frontcourt. nocioni is a lot better fit than salmons, because he moves without the ball, plays tough defense, and he can spot up for 3. evans is the 2nd best player in the draft. we added a few bench vets that arent great like mason and may, but they are serviceable players. last year we were playing freaking calvin booth and mikki moore.

Very excited for the season. Might be short on talent, but I love the guys on the team -- hardworking youngsters who have energy. We will take our lumps, but we will at least be watchable.
Past seasons watching washed up vets like Mikki Moore, Shareef, etc. was brutal. We now at least have a direction.
Excited to see the development of our frontline -- Hawes and JT, see Tyreke Evans hopefully become the superstar we are dying for, see Kevin Martin stay healthy and become a leader/clutch performer, see if any of our other young guys -- Donte Greene, Casspi, Brockman -- can contribute, see Cisco and Nocioni step into their roles and provide stability, see Beno become at least serviceable.
Let's go Kings!

I'm hoping Melvin Ely steps up and makes this team. He makes his living in the paint, fighting for boards and throwing his weight around.
We've got JT at 6'11" and Spencer at 7'1" in the starting lineup so we've got a little size there. If we can get Ely or Brockman or May to provide some useful big man minutes, we can survive.
I'd rather go small with some young guys than bring in a washed up veteran center to steal minutes.
