I was thinking more about his defense.
OP asked who were the other 4-5 teams. I thought of Houston's strong run in the playoffs without Yao and Tmac. Most of their roster has remained intact. They have a good coach and they gained Ariza while they lost Artest. And there's the question of Tmac. If scores lights out; everyone will be open on the Rockets.
I defer to you NBA masters as I haven't been keeping up with the game this past decade. And I never said they were better than the Spurs. All I said was that the Spurs seemed kinda old and rusty and need Duncan to pull another strong year.

Fair enough, but Houston played all of 4 games without Yao, two of which the Lakers didn't even show up. T-Mac is out through the middle of the season, and Yao's probably out for all of it. I like the players that they have on their roster, but right now, their #1 offensive option is Luis Scola, & #2 is Aaron Brooks. And that's gonna be the case for at least half of the year, and T-Mac's abilities had greatly diminished last year, even when healthy. I don't think he's the same player that he once was.

I would only add Portland to that list, although to the bottom of it.
Good point. While they are young, they are very talented and upgraded a position of need with Andre Miller. They're a bit of a wild card, especially considering the difficulties that the Lakers have with them. While I don't think they have the experience to win it all, they do have the talent.

It would not shock me if Houston doesn't make the playoffs.
