Not a regular boxing fan but I have HBO and Showtime so put it on from time to time. Watched the Hopkins fight ( until it finally put me to sleep in the 8th rd) and all I could think of was.............. seriously, this is a title fight?

There are a lot of quality fights in and around LA coming up. I am hoping to make it out to a few.

Hall of Fame promoter Bob Arum of Top Rank and Golden Boy President Oscar de la Hoya are discussing a possible megafight between boxing superstars Manny Pacquiao and Canelo Alvarez according to the Los Angeles Times. If the fight happens, it would be the first major co-promotion between the rival companies in five years.
Oscar also told the Times that his widely publicized internal squabble with Golden Boy CEO Richard Schaefer has been resolved with Schaefer getting an extended contract until 2018. âIf anyone with Golden Boy has any differences with Bob, itâs on them,â De La Hoya stated. âI have nothing against Bob and I feel making fights with Bob is beneficial to the fans and the market.â

A possible shake up ay GBP over working with Top Rank on future fights.
Earlier this week, Golden Boy President Oscar de la Hoya told the LA Times that âIf anyone with Golden Boy has any differences with Bob (Arum), itâs on them. I have nothing against Bob and I feel making fights with Bob is beneficial to the fans and the market.â Oscar also commented that his reportedly turbulent relationship with Golden Boy CEO Richard Schaefer is now âpeaches and cream.â
However, today the Times reports that Schaefer has expressed âno interestâ in working with Top Rank. âLast I checked, I was CEO,â Schaefer told The Times. âUnless Oscar wants to change thatâ¦Iâve been running Golden Boy since the beginning. If he wants to change that, since heâs the majority shareholder, and decides he wants to fire me, I canât stop that.â
