Were we wrong?

Not with Eddie. Now go find another one. The fact is kickers all around the league are having accuracy problems this year. Lots ot missed extra points and misses on short FGs. It looks like they've sacrificed accuracy for distance. Seven teams have changed kickers already this year.

Not with the two that replaced Moodys ass last year either.

The fact is that's what you do when a kicker isn't doing his one job; replace. Not blow a 3rd round pick on him to give unwarranted long leashes. And you answered your own dilemma; the fact that seven teams changed kickers this year supports all of the "complaining" fans thoughts of them being available on the street.

No it supports how erratic kickers can be. Even some veteran kickers that have had decent careers have problems. Slumps just like hitters in baseball. When ther Niners got Piniero was because he was released by someone else. He comes here and kicks well. Same for Gould. He started struggling with longer kicks in Chicago so they let him go. He was great in SF from 50 yards in. The Niners moved on from him and drafted Moody because he had a stronger leg and they wanted someone that could kick it into the end zone. He was fine his first year and then he hurt his leg in year 2. He wasn't the same when he came back. So it ended up being a wasted pick but at the time they felt they needed a kicker with a strong leg. He was considered one of the top 2 coming out of college. It's not the first time a team used a high pick on a kicker.

What do you mean no? You're contradicting yourself and supporting the "complainers" argument. Yes kickers are erratic; that's why it's stupid to use high draft capital on them to begin with. Yes they are released all the time; again, that supports kickers being available. Obviously you keep the one that is doing their job and yeah it's usually someone that has been released from somewhere else.

Not the first time a team used a high pick? You talking about the Buccs with 2nd rounder Agoyo or whatever his name was? Yup and same results; stupid pick at the time and bust

Looked it up. There have been 5 drafted in round 1, 8 drafted in round 2 and 17 draqfted in round 3. By the way the 49ers have3 darfted 2 other kickers in the 3rd round. The most recent was Doug Brien in 1994 and before that they drafted Steve Mike-Mayer. It's not common but it happens. Sometimes it works out like Janikowski did for the Raiders and sometimes it doesn't.

That might be the only one that did work
And I still think that was a stupid pick; I would never support using a first round pick

You mean Steve Miss-a-mile?

Doug Brien actually had a decent career once he left the 49ers.
How many kickers have we had injured in the past three years? This is absurd.
What if our new fill in temp kicker makes all his kicks, including extra points, for multiple games?

Do we dare to be greedy? 👀

Did he get hurt on that blocked kick when he got tackled pretty hard? That was a bad play. We get way too many blocked extra points. Is it bad blocking or are we kicking low on extra points?

Defense overloads one side of the field and bum rushes. Our ST doesn't know how to adjust to it.

Meaning?
Moody signed with the Commanders. He's back with Deebo now.

Could have sworn I heard Matt Maiocco asking Shanahan that if they looked into signing Justin Tucker at the presser ………..what a dumbass

He better lock in quickly.
Sounds like it could be Romo, Anders Carlson, or maybe Greg Joseph.

At least we've got a bye coming up. For grade 1, hopefully that means no more than 2 games.
