I say no, there isn't any other coach out there that I would want over KS at this point. I think KS should be here for decades unless the wheels fall off. The Steelers head coaching model is the model I would use moving forward. Keep the coach for decades, either he will figure it out or he will learn here but win a super bowl somewhere else (Andy Reid Eagles/KC) (BB Browns/Patriots).

I prefer not to just be the place where the coach learns from his mistakes, but also where he succeeds.

Philly was not afraid of firing the "almighty" Andy Reid when it became clear he wasn't going to be able to get them over the hump and they managed to win Super Bowls under two different - and unremarkable- HC's after that.

True, but the Steelers way has produced more Super Bowls.

The 4 Bradshaw Super Bowls should count as a maximum of 2. The league was so bad. That team is wildly over-rated.

Can't take those rings from them no matter what we think.

I lived there and my father in law was a huge Steelers fan. What bugs me is that there are some really weak hall of famers on that team. You know how many NFL WRs are in the hall of fame that played after 1960 and have less than 6000 yards? 1. Lynn Swann (5462 yards). How many yards did Jerry Rice get after he was 35 years old with 2 significant knee injuries? 6869 yards. And Jerry had almost as many TDs after 35 (45) as Swann did in his entire career (52).

I don't really know why the NFL was so weak in the mid 70s ... I was a kid at the time.

Top 5 draft pick.

Last place schedule with the superbowl in our house and we will be eliminated from the playoffs with weeks to go in the season.

The fun is going to begin with a sound beating by Seattle in week 1.

Until this franchise learns how to build this team from the trenches out and until the management learns that they need to force Kyle to change his approach, we are going to see the same thing every year.

Would love to be wrong.

I feel confident in the playoffs . Division is not as strong as predicted. Despite everyone crying about injuries over and over I'm overall happy on that front . None of our big guns are hurt besides Brandon . The defense is going to be a work in progress but the offense will be excellent .

There were a lot of talented palyers but without a salary cap and no free agency teams could stockpile players. The Steelers, Raiders, Niners, Cowboys and Giants all did. The teams at the top were very good and had depth to spare. I'd match those teams up against any team in the league today. I know players are bigger now but those players would have been bigger if they used PEDs like players do today. They were good and that depth would have been the equalizer. The rest of the league wasn't so good.

The NFL back then was a RB league.

It was more RB centered for sure, but Swann is the ONLY WR who did that little and made the hall after the late 50s. The other WRs from the 70s in the hall were far more productive they just didn't win 4 rings. But for some reason Torry Holt with his 8 consecutive 1000 yard seasons is not in the hall. And if the argument is that Swann's career was cut short by injury then Shannon Sharpe should be in the hall too since he did more in his 7 seasons just a decade after Swann.

Roger Craig and Hines Ward should have been in for a long time now too.

It's supposed to be REALLY hard to get in the hall, and they often rely on stats to justify keeping players out ... but Swann got in because he was an over-hyped TV star on a team that was dominant.

It's not PEDs, I think that has mostly been stamped out. It's that the understanding and level of training has gone up enormously on players bodies that starts before the high school level now. Fred Dean is in the hall of fame and he said he never lifted and Ronnie Lott said he'd hang out in the weight room to smoke.

It's an interesting point that back then teams could horde good players.
