I think Kyle can get any QB to be productive, but until Jimmy G he couldn't win with any QB. I do not take it for granted than any QB can cone here and win. No one thought Jones would be as good as he was, so let's not assume anyone can do it. I'd rather we keep the safety net unless someone offers a first or the equivalent (enough picks to move up into the first).

Then do what in 27? There's no safety net and you still have to wait till 28 for the comp pick.

Like Smokey said it's all moot if we don't get the offer.

Would like to see Mac Jones year 2 in Kyle's offense. He has the personality to let it rip and the accuracy with touch. With more time in the offense and within the pocket, he seems to be capable of playing as well as Brock. With lesser mobility he can still operate the offense at a level that can win us games.

I dont think Mac does what Brock did in Indy. It's another level.

There's no debating keeping Mac would be a huge safety net for this team. It just depends on the market for him. It would be hard to pass up a 2nd or 3rd rounder for him

I wouldn't even hesitate if someone offered a 2nd rounder. A high 3rd rounder would also be fine. As good as Mac performed in his backup roll Kyle has shown he can find and teach QBs to be at least adequate in his system. They could certainly use another 2nd or high 3rd round pick.

Im saying they will know whether or not Rourke can be the guy based on what they see in 26. I think he will be. In 2027 you have a Brock and Rourke QB room. Maybe even take a QB late to put on the practice squad on the off chance Rourke looks really good. But they at least need to see him for a year to determine if he can be the safety net.
We need to trade Mac to the Texans for a 2nd, minimum, so they can move on from Stroud who is single handedly is holding that team back.

Not our problem though, is it WI? I think we would be better off keeping him if at all possible.
I would rather see if we could get a player for Mac than a pick....since we suck at drafting.

But I would absolutely trade Mac this offseason.
I think if you can find a reasonable backup the Niners need to trade Mac while he has a bit of an artificial halo around him and a bunch of QB needy teams, combined with a very thin QB draft class. Assuming they can get someone to overpay big time it could be a great move.
Jones looked good, plus his contract for next year if you have him as your starter is tiny so he should be very marketable.

Dolphins make so much sense. Stuck with Tua contract so they need something cheap and can't think Quinn Evers is the answer.

The longer he sits the more stale he becomes. His value went up bc he covered Brock for 2 months. What if Brock plays the entire next season without injury ? And Mac watches from the bench. He loses value plus his contract expires so he walks anyway. This offseason you're going to have very QB needy teams. Especially those teams hiring new coaches looking for a fresh start with a first round QB. I wouldn't even take a third for him. I'd ask for a 2nd rounder plus a player and I think there's a handful of teams that just might bite.

I have my doubts we secure a 2nd. Darnold is my example....even though he's solid for Seattle he still wasn't retained by the vikings after a stellar year there once leaving this team. Teams don't put a massive value on a reclamation project even after success. Teams would rather spend that 2nd rounder on an unknown.
Just put a poll in here, MAc Jones Trade? Yes or No.

The answer is no unless we get an all pro at position of need. I would not even trade for 16-32 first rounder.

Why? The story of 2025 is no Mac, no playoffs.

Depends what we can get for him.

IMO, our needs are many and OL, WR, DE are very apparent.

If we could get a quality player and/or draft pick them I'm all-in.
