Maybe Saleh can inspire the D to make tackling great again
I like how everyone is looking at this from an entirely 49ers-centric point of view.

Being an NFL HC was probably Saleh's dream and now he's been s**t canned. He's likely going to want to take some time off to clear his head, get away from everything and he might even take a whole year off like a lot of fired head coaches do before jumping back into the grind. I wouldn't count on him having a role with the 49ers this season, or any other team.

Its also not a given that he'd come back here. He seems to have a really good relationship with Kyle but Matt LaFleur was best man at his wedding and he has good relationships with McVay and several other NFL HC's.

Bring him back as a consultant for this year, and give him the DC title next offseason.

I like this idea

This feels to good to be true which means it won't happen, but we did trade for CMC so they do surprise us sometimes

You're probably right. Most coaches don't jump right back into job after getting fired. They probably want to re-evaluate what they did and try to figure out why it didn't work. Besides he's getting pid to sit at home. Not a bad deal if you can get it.

I think that is a major part of it. With offset clauses, anywhere he goes, he'd basically be working for free as whatever the Jets owe him will be reduced by whatever his new team is paying him so if there's ever a time to really go explore, travel and just leave everything behind, its while someone else is paying you $5 million a year to do it.

The Jets were stupid to fire him.

Move this to the golf thread for now

They need to clean house altogether, not just Saleh.

Sneak preview of January:

Won't make a difference right now. Maybe in the off season. A coach isn't saving this defense. They need talent. we got some lost ass fans

As comedic as that would be especially if they have a napkin for the presser. The Lions OC should be receiving a blank check from the Jets this off-season
