Despite the fact that he played for the Raiders, you can make the case that Jim Otto pulled off wearing 00 somehow. In a lot of ways I agree with your stance, however the one position that may be an exception is CB. I think the number 0 plays into the swagger and attitude of allowing nothing to a receiver that a Corner has to have. On the other end of the spectrum, the worst position to wear that number would be WR for a similar reason to CB. You want Wide Receivers to accumulate numbers, so to wear one with a value of nothing seems wrong.
