It's like can't we just shake this guy? Even the first preseason game begins with Jimmy. It's a rain cloud that doesn't want to go away..

I don't think he plays a snap lol

I understand that. It's just the point the first team up is Jimmy related.

that is correct, the question is, who starts at QB, for SF? Do we know?

I agree. Just more invested there. I wonder if we do the old, this guy starts game 1, this guy starts game 2, that I see some teams are doing..

Not sure but look. Not trying to be a difficult fan but I prefer to see Trey out there. I stand by the fact that he has not been given a fair ride just yet in my opinion. I hope he lights it up. That said, I have become a heck of a Brock fan but some will discuss we need to see him for a chunk of the season to make a fair assessment. His winning stretch was quite awesome but they were showing some of the stats of the defenses played and other tidbits on NFLN and it could be argued that the Commanders has the best defense of that stretch of games and Seattle was no push over. Teams are going to be a little more prepared and some of the opponents a little tougher than that stretch of games. Seattle has improved in my opinion. Looks like it will be another Hag dual for the West.
I hope Brock kicks some ass but I am totally okay with the fact that down the road there maybe a QB on this squad not playing number 1 that will become superior.

No one can argue either way as it's an unknown. But it will be interesting to discuss throughout the season.

Yea. I'd put my money on Trey starting.
Just no injuries.

I posted this statline earlier on FB when there was some negative post about Brock saying he didn't play anyone.

He played WSH (4th), TB (8th), DAL (7th) and SEA (12th) ranked pass defenses. In those 5 games combined Brock Purdy averaged 68.2% completion, had 9 passing TD's, 2 rushing TD's, 1 INT, 9.1 YPA with an average passer rating of 115.1.
here is the game blurb; courtesy NFL website:

  • WHERE: Allegiant Stadium (Las Vegas)
  • WHEN: 4 p.m. ET (NFL Network, NFL+*)
49ERS: With Brock Purdy unlikely to play in the preseason opener Sunday at Vegas, it opens the door for the other three quarterbacks -- Trey Lance, Sam Darnold and Brandon Allen -- to make their mark. All three are jockeying to back up Purdy, who appears to be the unquestioned QB1 barring any setbacks with his surgically repaired elbow. Lance has the most to play for as the ousted starter and former No. 3 overall pick. Do the Niners still believe in the athletic signal-caller? Or could he be showcased for a potential trade? Darnold's ball security has been marvelous in camp -- quite noteworthy for a man who has 55 INTs and 56 career games. Gotta admit, it's a pretty riveting QB battle considering it doesn't involve a starting job.

This. Take him to pound town

Not going to happen. I highly doubt he plays in the preseason game given his injury. And scrimmage is no contact for QBs I would think.
Start Trey.

The internet would break if Trey doesn't start. I see the media all over the first depth chart, imagine the flip out if Trey doesn't take the first series!!!

Do you think that Shanahan would start Darnold just to troll everyone?
