55 starts under his belt. Good size. Has physical tools to move the ball with his arms and legs-- 223 combined passing and rushing yards per game in poor Jets and Panthers offenses. And who knows, maybe he flourishes under Shanahan and with the stacked offensive talent.
Good for a 3rd string, emergency role. Though if we have to play Sam Darnold this year, we're going to have to ask our brain trust some awkward questions.

I remember what happened. I just feel like if you get down to your 3rd string QB, 999 times out of 1000, your team is finished.

As a third stringer for one year, why not I guess? He was good at the end of the season with the Panthers. Only 25 years old.
I ´m just a little bit surprised they took someone not really accurate like Darnold. It doesn´t fit what Kyle likes.
That being said I´m happy they signed Darnold and not someone like Mayfield or Rudolph.
I hope they draft someone in the latter rounds, a good processor of the game that can scramble. Someone like Jake Haener.
