like I said in the brown thread, he's just bitter and trying to fk up s**t

What would he be bitter about? He had a great career.

He was just an overrated hitter who knocked himself silly a few times. Its not like he was great in coverage. Safeties were the weak link in those defenses he played on. Right now, he's starting his own social media and doing what a lot of ex players do to get clicks. He wasn't even as good as Goldson, who was just adequate.

I wish we had a safety like Hittner on our squad, he was a game changer!

How so? I remember him making some big hits, but we have several guys who can do that on the roster already. He couldn't cover very good at all, and unless you can play some free safety, we don't need you on this team. We are already crowded at strong safety.

He could do either that's why he was a first round pick. He actually changed games with those big hits as well, go see the Saints game.

He didn't have to cover, guys were to afraid to enter his zone plus if you did try to catch it he would lower the hammer and separate you from the ball or you from your soul. This guy was the truth, and trust me we do not have a guy like him playing safety for us right now at either position.

I've been watching niners games since 79-80 season. He was an adequate safety, not much more than a hitter. We've had much better strong safeties than him over the years. We don't need another hitter, we need someone who can actually play coverage. We already have guys that put up the same numbers as Hitner did on the roster.

Ronnie Lott was the best ever IMO biased opinion.

D.W striking ability reminded me a lot of the big guy.

Adequate? I don't know what games you have been watching but Whitner was a beast. A flat out game changer.

We have no-one near his ability at safety. Not even close.

Aldon Smith, Justin Smith, Ray McDonald, Issac Sopoagoa, Patrick Willis, Ahmad Brooks, Navarro Bowman, Donte Whitner, Dashon Goldson

That was a team full of dogs. They were men playing against boys. That was probably the best 49er D we have ever had. It's a shame we Kaepernick didn't see a wide open Frank Gore in the SB or they would have been Super Bowl champs.

This is 100% correct. The secondary in general was our weak link. Coverage was not their strength. The secondary got shredded by Brees, Eli, Brady, Rodgers, and Flacco. I think Carlos Rogers is still trying to figure out how to cover Victor Cruz.

Who wasn't getting shredded by those guys in their prime back then?
