He'll have to refine his route running to make up for the lack of speed. To your point, this staff isn't shy about projecting players into different roles that they played in college (Warner, TMoore, DJ Reed), so it's quite possible they try JJ on the outside.
If Hurd is healthy, I think JJ will need to show he provides value as a special teamer to be suited up on gameday. Would JJ get cut if Hurd is healthy? There are too many WRs 'on the bubble' (RJames, Pettis, TTaylor). The only locks I have are Bourne, Deebo, Aiyuk, healthy Hurd. If Hurd is healthy, I think JJ is on the bubble. But who knows at this point, they haven't even practiced.
Juan Jennings
Height 6' 3"
Weight 215 lbs
Arm Length 31⅝"
Hand Size 9"
40 Yard Dash 4.72s
Vertical Jump 29"
Broad Jump 119"
Anquan Boldin
Height 6' 1"
Weight 216 lbs
Arm length 30"
Hand Size 9.88"
10 Yard Split 1.61s
20 Yard Split 2.77s
40 Yard Dash 4.72s
Vertical Jump 33½"
Broad Jump 114"
Bolden had bigger hands and a better vert, Jennings is taller, but other than that, their combine measurements we pretty close.
Boldin was actually 4.73 in the 40
Didn't think he was that slow. Maybe he's more quick in short areas. Jennings looks slower to me somehow lol

Boldin and Cris Carter both ran 4.7.... and look how good they were, as long as you know how to position yourself, a WR can be very very effective...
dang, Jerry Rice ran a 4.56 but Deion couldn't cover him ..

really hoping this guy does well and makes the team! Like having some tough, bigger receivers...kind of like the opposite of Pettis.

You just have to throw it up to Jennings and he'll get it.

Welp Jennings just became more important as one of our big slot WRs after that Hurd injury. He'd better get cooking on learning the play-calls.

I hope this dude is great.
But if you're going to cherry pick an all-time great slow WR as a compare, please also cite the literal hundreds who never played a game.

idk, hurd and jennings never had an impact on the team so far. our core is aiyuk, deebo and kittle, anything else is just a luxury.

it was WISE to draft Jennings more than ever... while PICKING THEIR NOSE at home, both Lynch and Shanny must have thought of WHAT IF HURD really is HURT ??
Can we at least draft someone in the late round that can provide us with HURD's size and HUNGER but not as SOFT ???
JENNINGS WAS THE ANSWER !!

Adding two WRs hopefully really pays off this year. Rooting for Jennings. And if Pettis steps up, that'll be big for us.

If Kyle really wants a big slot, then JJ's chances just improved big time with Hurd being injured.

Congrats on making the 53, kid! Vets are saying you run some filthy routes for your size!
