Agreed. I totally understand why JJ wasn't resigned. His market value is too high for us to swallow. But honestly, I hope all teams pass on him, because I'm certain that we bring him back on a team-friendly deal, and I'm even more certain that JJ would come back on that deal. And if he does we're gonna have the hands down best WR room in the league:

Mike Evans
Ricky Pearsall
Christian Kirk
Demarcus Robinson
JJ
Jordan Watkins/Jacob Cowing/Rookie?

(Not necessarily in that order.) My goodness, that's a dangerous 5-wide look This offense will be unstoppable when we go 3-wide or more. Purdy is gonna rip defenses apart with that WR room.
I got a feeling that the longer this takes the better shot he has coming back

The eagles is still pretty nasty with Brown, Smith, and Dotson as far as WRs go. No one gives a crap about Pearsall, Robinson, and especially Watson/Cowing. Kirk is alright but no one fears him either.

I do agree that with our scheme these guys can be great. But it's not hands down anything. Now you throw in Kittle and CMC as pass catchers and we have something there

This is a point I'm making regarding bringing JJ back if he's not signed elsewhere. Outside of Kirk and Evens we're pretty thin, at best. Kittle and CMC have dangerously high milage. We have to get more out of the WR position if Kittle and CMC are gonna be able to make one more SB push. Bringing JJ back if nobody signs him will go a long way to that end. I don't blame JJ for seeking a payday. I would in his position. But if I were him, if no team signs me, I'd be back with teh 49ers.

I do think Pearsall has real good upside and become a competent #1 for us if he stays healthy. He's had a few 80+ yard games and some went over 100. But nobody is fearing him until he proves himself. We have a B+ receiver room with Kyles scheme. C- without it

Add in the likelihood of another wr in the draft with the young guys already on the roster there's no room for Jennings here. Let that s**t go he's gone, we needed to get faster and more athletic anyways

Some 49ers fans just cannot let it go. We all heard a different group of fans a couple of years ago carping about letting Deebo walk. Now we are hearing the same about JJ. Some of the best reasons for getting him back are as follows:

1. But he BLOCKS!
News Flash: All NFL receivers block and block well. They would not be on the roster if they could not/did not do this job.

2. But he can THROW THE BALL ON TRICK PLAYS!
News Flash: All NFL receivers can throw the ball and throw it well. They would not be on the roster if they could not/did not do this job.

We will continue to hear this fantasy that JJ will cave and sign a one-year deal with the 49ers. Which is just that: A BIG, FAT FANTASY. JJ's agent, if he's smart, is likely pitching that one-year offer now. There are no takers. JJ's chances might improve if other teams suffer key injuries in TC. This does happen. It's probably JJ's best shot of landing with another team not named the 49ers. Otherwise, JJ's career as a player in the NFL is over.

My dad's name was Bill. Wtf are you talking about? All receivers block and throw the ball well? Well opinion be damned. Not all receivers block well. I thought that was common knowledge. Some actually really suck at it.

And all receivers throw the ball well? I'll agree that the ones throwing it do practice and can be competent at it. But they are few and far between. I don't even care that JJ can throw the ball anyways. Just a weird thing to say to me

Facts. Pearsall has all the tools to be the #1 guy. But he has to stay on the field to prove it. Granted, injuries and being shot isn't his fault. But tough. The league isn't gonna give those seasons back. Those years accrue and count against him. So he's gonna have to prove it this year and find a way to stay on the field, all season.

But I kind of disagree. This is a B- WR room, on paper. I think with JJ Shanny makes this WR room an A.

I would love to have him back but wont be sad if he doesnt.

but no - not all WRs block (at least well)

no one cares about one or two trick plays in a career - its not something would sign/not sign for.
If we can afford JJ for a season then we can afford a vet Edge for a season.

Loved when JJ played for us, but I know which one I'd prefer.

Ya who knows what he's talking about lol. 5pm somewhere

He's not coming back. Lynch already closed that door. And even if his market dips even more, it makes no sense for him to be back here.

There's gonna be teams that will at least feature him as their #3 WR. He can't afford to take another 1 year deal with us and being our #4. He needs his last NFL contract, which it looks like it won't come until next year.

He needs to go to a team that's thin at WR, where he can even step into a #2 role, so he can have a solid season and then get that multi year contract next year.
I'm surprised the chargers haven't signed him tbh

All WRs block and block well? All NFL WRs can throw? JJ's career as a player are over unless there's a TC injury? What?!

Many of your contributions to this forum are idiotic.

I'm sorry, I don't mean to be offensive but there isn't a better word to describe what I just (and often) read from you. The part that is surprisingly more worrisome is the conviction with which you post this nonsense.
As we approach the draft, threads seem to be getting increasingly unpleasant. Rather than messing around with warnings, we can just suspend posting privilege for a few weeks. Restraint is not an awful lot to ask.

Rule 1
  • Be respectful. Engage in meaningful, constructive conversation. Personal attacks, harassment, threats, or any other form of offensive behavior will not be tolerated.

I Definitely didn't see this coming. I thought 20 million was insane, but 10- 15, maybe a few teams would offer that. I wonder what the 49ers offered before they moved on to extending McKivitz.
