to be fair how do you even stop a scrambling qb? try to injure him or something? they are just so unpredictable and hard to gameplan for , very dangerous

Has always been our weakness in the history of the team. We had a solid period in the 80's but come the 90's and on...we've been fkd right out the gates.
Iam rethinking signing AA. He will want 15-17 per year and 40 plus guaranteed. With that we could re-sign J Ward, A Sanders, and Ron Blair (a 2 year deal because of his injury) and a player very rarely talked about Damontre Moore. Moore did a Dam good job before he got hurt. Plus we may get a 3rd or 4th round come pick for AA. Thoughts?
My bad, Don't sign AA

2. Blitzing and leaving your guys on islands when you're up multiple scores and your front 4 is getting constant pressure already. Knowing your deep safety play SUCKS!

3. Our DEs crashing down the line on play actions/Read options versus scrambling QBs.

#3 was by design.

Ward played well....just wasn't a big ballhawk.

But #3 against Balt. We stopped doing in 2nd half after his fumble and contained their offense.
The way you defend mobile QB's is to have top notch DL depth so the starters don't get gassed like they did in the SB. They missed Blair a lot...plus Street & Taylor. Those 3 could've made a difference. It's also why they're trying to re-sign Armstead...he's a key to that front.

Sherman's lost a step, but is still valuable not only in coverage but in leadership. Moseley is arguably the starter on the other side, unless they draft a stud who beats him out. It's an outstanding draft for CBs. Some other roster guys who could be in the mix are Tim Harris, a guy Coach liked before going on the DL. He's 6-2, 200 from VA. Tarvarius Moore's another who can play both DB & S. Teez Tabor's a guy with some skills who could become a factor.

Coach wants to re-sign Ward...he had a great 2019. If they can't get that deal done, Harris could be the guy. He's got some mad skills, but he's not as refined as Jimmie is. There are some good S in the draft, like Dugger & Chinn.

A solid CB that can be groomed to take over for Sherman when he retires in a year or two.

A ER for depth, especially with Ford likely to miss games again.

Another DT for depth as well.

And for Saleh to do something else than cover 3 99% of the time.

And THAT

Let's think about how this D could get even better. Bosa will get even better. Blair will be healthy giving us a key rotational guy on the edge. Probably more snaps from Ford. Thomas may be approaching his ceiling but has not hit it yet. Our linebackers are all young and will continue to get better. Kwon is still young and think he will contain his aggressiveness a pinch to make more plays. our young cornerbacks just need game experience and refinement. Sherm has never been the fastest. That was all magnified because no team has more speed at WR than KC. He will be fine for next year. After that, we shall see. Williams was quickly resigned. Moore just needs coaching up to turn and look for the ball and take better angles. Let him compete with Jimmy Ward, if we can bring him back. Ward gone will be more missed than AA gone, but DL is a higher priority position generally, so that's a tough decision. Both are guys you want in the locker room it seems. One will probably have to go unfortunately, but like I am saying, everyone else is one more year in, especially Saleh, and growing.

I give the Dline a lot of the credit but we did lead the league in fewest passing yards allowed and an insanely low yards per attempt. If the season stats allowed to opposing QB's combined was a single QB, he would of been one of the worst. Not bad considering who we faced.

This. There's 4th quarter SB bad taste still.

And that 4th Q SB problem was mostly secondaries not making their assignments and miss matches like having Sherman man on man with guys like Hill.

Looking forward to your analysis of the 4 Q Jonny.
