Having actually read this it seems highly unlikely to me. I shan't worry until a more reputable source carries it. But if there is any truth at all I imagine that the team are busy getting lawyered-up

Is the East Bay Times legit? IDK, I don't know anything about it.

Looks like a lawyer's paradise!

Time to move to "Webzone Law Students" thread

Levi's Stadium is owned by the city of Santa Clara, California, but it's managed by the 49ers. The city says the stadium has been mismanaged, and is seeking to take management back.

The city, rather than the team, should be making money on and managing non-football events.
This is all because the Santa Clara mayor and the council have a personnel grudge against the Niners. I don't think she was ever in favor of the stadium and there have been numerous disputes over the last 3 years. They better hope the Niners don't get pissed off and move because they'll be left with a big empty stadium and lost revenue.

I'm not saying it will happen but everyone has a breaking point. You can't keep feuding about every little thing and expect the relationship to last. Look what happened in SF. The Niners tried for years to get a new stadium built there but the city wouldn't come up with a plan that worked. Same thing happened in Oakland. San Diego left because the city wouldn't work with them on a new stadium. I'm guessing they'll work this out because the Niners don't want to move and the city needs the revenue.

The City of Santa Clara needs to be careful about what they wish for. They try to break an agreement and it opens the whole agreement up for renegotiations. And they could be on the hook for lots of heartache, expensive litigation, and really bad press lol. During times like that, the city has to start worrying about leaks inside their own house, and I am betting that some of those leaks might not put the Mayor and the city in such a positive light.

The city probably will end up losing money, and if they do take over stadium operations, it will probably turn into a cluster f*$&. The local looney tunes crowd will demand vegan only hot dogs, outlaw sugary drinks, no fertilizer on the sod on the field, put in a homeless tent encampment in the parking lot, demand solar lights for night games...
Gotta love Bay Area politics.

I sat in dead-on centerfield, 2nd row, for the '78 All-Star Game in that stadium. Rod Carew had two triples, both rolling to the same spot at the base of the wall beneath my brother and me. Goose Gossage, the unhittable ace reliever for the Yankees, came on in the 7th and got lit up, losing the game for the Americans.

The Warriors and Giants had no problems getting it done in SF. They also financed their own facilities.
The 49ers are the only major team getting handouts.
