Looking at that snap count for WRs.....man that's a sorry group.....

I really thought we needed to upgrade the slot position and its a bit painful to look at that snap count and see Amendola go off for 100+ on a 1yr $4.5m contract.

Jimmy might have had a bad game, but his ceiling isn't too high with the only legitimate target being Kittle.
I truly appreciate the work thl408 and Jonnydel have put into this thread. Thank you!

We just stopped a top Passing offense in the nfl. Rather easily. Their ol isn't that good however they may have the best 1-2 punch at wr and a kick ass te.

I really can't wait til Sunday to confirm this game wasn't a fluke due to the weather and illness among the Bucs including Mike Evans.

As crazy as it is Dalton is the league leader in passing yards. If we can shut down their passing game similar to what we did with Tampa bay without the heat situation I'll feel much better about our D moving forward.

Of course playing Steelers and Cleveland weeks 3/5 won't be much of a breather considering those QBs are way better than Winston/Dalton. In fact the only game on our schedule without a dangerous QB(on paper at least) is the Washington game and funny enough Keenum put up the 4th most passing yards week 1.

Definitely need our pass rush to keep playing like they did in the 2nd half and have our secondary play that way as well. If we can get that defense out there consistently we're going to the playoffs.

The Seahawks secondary might be the worst in the NFL. I think we will do a much better job.

Does anyone know if Verrett will play?

I think we will shut down Boyd and Ross so we shouldn't be too bad vs the pass. Cinn has a bad ol too but it sure didn't look that way against the Seahawks

Verrett should be active but i think we are relatively healthy at cb so that spot might go elsewhere for the next week or 2. I would like him vs Pitt and Cleveland

New season, new film to watch! Let's go!

I'll start with the defense because they were the stars on Sunday.

TB came with lots of Bear fronts and the 49ers ran right into it. I was wondering why as I was re-watching. My guess is maybe it was so hot Kyle didn't want to run the OL since OL doesn't substitute? No idea, but after a number of unsuccessful runs, there was a series in the 3Q where the 49ers made an adjustment, went 22 personnel, and ran some Counter plays that resulted in good runs - off tackle is how to beat a Bear front. Tomlinson and Richburg really struggled in run blocking vs Suh/Vea.

By the way, can you please email Herm Edwards this tidbit. K thx

I think I saw ASU run it up the gut 20 times into a Bear Front last game

So this is the first time we got to see Deebo from the all22. He's known for his route running and strength. I was surprised to see him play X so often. As the weakside WR, on an island, the X often times does not get the benefit of being a part of a route combination where one route can help another route get open.

The X has to win with speed, or size, or technique, or any combination of those.I will gif all his reps vs man coverage as a way for us to see how well he did in these situations, in this game. Below are the man coverage reps in the 1st half.

There are six plays in this gif, the first play in the sequence is the Goodwin 7 yard catch. What I don't know is whether some of these routes are supposed to be back shoulder throws. Although Kyle hasn't really used back shoulder throws in his offense with the 49ers.

Looks like he was blanketed every snap there and got no separation.

Appreciate the work.

These are Deebo's 2nd half reps vs man coverage. Had one from the slot. In no way does one game define a career. This is regarding how a few of us said he had a good game. He had one good catch.

This is the first play of the gif sequence:

Seeing Deebo struggle to get open. It's odd they didn't try and see if Pettis would fare any better. Maybe his groin was acting up too much

Speaking of porn I feel dirty showing all those tough reps from Deebo. Here's a palette cleanser

I think we've seen that before
