And I like Jones. I think he was the more consistent catcher of the football but people act like VD wasn't a top 3 TE for most of his career. Was Jones ever top 3? I don't think so.
love kittle. but he has a ways to go. years to be considered by vernon jones and kwalik
Was Kwalik as good of a blocker as Kittle is? Just curious. Love the old highlights.
Kwalick was a great blocker at 6'4" and 226. Great runner after the catch also. The first time I saw Kittle I said, "That guy reminds me of Ted Kwalick."

Good post!
Dave Parks was a wide receiver. He was really good and big for his time at 6'2" and 208 lbs. My problem with Vernon Davis was not battling for contested balls. You rarely saw him jump to make a catch. For a guy with his size and speed he could have been much better.
VD was hampered by an offense that was more ball control and probably had a lot fewer snaps per game than the current 49ers team. My pick is Brent Jones.
Depends on what you are looking for in a tight end. Kittle will probably end up with the most yards, receptions and TD's but you have to consider the era. Tight ends are used much differently than when Kwalick or Francis played. Brent was used a lot but was never the first or even the 2nd option. Dave Parks was a wide receiver so he doesn't belong on the list. Stickles was a tough sob that was a superb blocker. They were all great in their own right but I just can't compare them when the position has evolved so much. It's probably changed more than any position other than fullback.
And he's still blasting defenders 10 yards off the ball in the run game with his blocking
