Lots of responses saying defense, but offense is in the lead. I'm going offense. Got to see a good defense during the Harbaugh years. Last time I saw a good 49er offense was uhhh...
Defense got a huge boost on the DL, but the offense will have a gigantic boost from getting Jimmy back, speed and youth at all skill positions, and the best play caller in the NFL. This franchise made a name for itself by being one step ahead of the league's defenses. I'm excited to see them start working their way back to being that caliber of offense.
I think quite a few of us that answered defense think that the offense will be exciting and that it is more than likely going to happen under Kyle. We may have less faith on the other side of the ball given what we have seen.. So seeing huge improvement where you have less faith can be more exciting.
You read my mind, Mojave. Sure i'll Be surprised at whatever kyle does, and it WILL be exciting. Adding more O pieces esp. Hurd and Deebo. But you are correct about D. We all want it to do well, we know there are some great pieces in play, both DEs,(by designation for Dee), and right behind him /next to him is Kwon....and what he can do.
Just so much excitement on D, and if saleh keeps his word, Solly inside only, same for AA, then T.Moore gets back to his collegiate success slot, S. And those last 3 are all in new positions, yet have been here last yr and before. I mean there is so much going on on D, it is mind blowing.
That's like 3 new draft picks PLUS Nick, Dee, and Kwon....tough not to get excited when you also factor in kocurek and woods...both interviews are very worth while watching. With woods. And our "leventy-seven" DBs, esp Exum, Harris, Tartt, et al....all we have to do is have
one or two catch fire and....hmmm...oh, forgot their leader, uncle Sherm.
The O will be more fun than ever, wth guys healthy, the new guys, and , of course, Kyle. But if that D can make its mark, play up to the level of talent there, this is one yr you don't want to miss anything. If D can live up to its talent.....uh oh...cause we pretty much know what to expect from kyle and his six or seven WR/TE/RB amalgams/ composites/ OWs. Oh, yes...and jimmyG's back, with a hot shot #2 . What in the world is not to like about 2019?
Sure reminds me of BW and his 3rd yr. Difference is he had Joe coming along vs we have JimmyG returning from ACL after a strong showing, and then the draft and everything just meshed. Both teams were terrible two yrs before with no talent, then 2nd yr both teams lost a lot of games but were pretty much in it right to the end... and both teams had good off season FA and drafts in yr 3, both were fixed at Qb. Both had/have the best, cleverest, OCs and HCs in league.
Coincidence?
