Congrats to Nick! This award was basically a lock for him though because he's not only the best rookie, but already one of the best players in the entire NFL.

Bosa -- A+ (elite)
Deebo -- A (very good w/ high ceiling)
Greenlaw -- A (very good starter, high ceiling)

Draft was outstanding and we still may have extra coming with Hurd.

Funny how when we drafted him a chunk of the fanbase was making all these false accusations about him and saying they'd boycott the team for supporting him. Another chunk was crying about his durability, and how much better Quinnen Williams was.

Predictably, the Bosa haters have mysteriously gone missing. Wonder how many summer camp haters were chanting his name in the Vikings game? 🤔

I'm fine with admitting that while I felt Bosa was the best player, I was leaning towards Allen, Williams, or possibly trading back for Sweat due to injury concerns. Allen was excellent, Williams a dud, and Sweat was very good, but I'm ecstatic that we took Bosa. So count me as wrong in this one. I was among the chorus of Bosa chants at the game.

I think what makes Bosa a cut above those other edge rushers is how well he plays the run.

I agree. In hindsight the speed rusher (Ford) and traditional DE (Bosa) combo is really good. Allen/Ford would have been two speed rushers and would likely made us more vulnerable vs. the run for sure.

Don't forget Skule! He stepped in to back up our injured starters and the offense barely skipped a beat.

The key question this offseason for the DLine is can Ford's treatment have him sustain health?
A lot of speed rushers or bull rushers are so intent on getting to the QB that they ignore the run. ( at least it looks like that). Bosa seems to go after the ball, not the QB so where ever the ball goes he goes. You see it in the way he defends passes as well. Batting them down or intercepting them.

This.

Lynch should be GM of the year. Don't forget the Sanders midseason trade, the depth at o-line (Brunskill) and bamboozling KC for Ford. If anyone of these trades/pickups don't happen, we probably wouldn't be where we are.

Nice to have Bosa, a true elite, cornerstone player in the mold of past Niner defensive greats.

And that was without having Ford at the other end for basically the last half of the season. Just think what his numbers might have been like if he'd had Ford coming off the other edge all year. Glad that the team didn't overthink this pick and that the Cardinals decided to go with Murray. I suppose Allen would have been a nice consolation prize but I'm glad we ended up with Bosa. I do wonder though how long we will have him. There is just something about him that comes across in interviews that makes you feel that, while he is certainly okay with being here at the moment, he isn't somehow totally committed to being a 49er in the way that guys like Joe Staley and Mike McGlinchey are and might be inclined to look elsewhere when his rookie contact is up. And before anyone gets all bent out of shape about that comment let me just reiterate that it is merely a feeling and not based on anything other than that. It could just be his sort of laid back demeanor in interviews. The few clips I've seen of him reacting to things on the sideline make him seem much more invested in the team then his interviews do. Hopefully he will end up being a 10 year guy and one of the best 49ers ever.
