Many believe Paraag is the master at doing team friendly contracts.
Some big names may have come close to signing on with the Niners.
How much influence has this had on the rebuilding of this team?

Your answers don't match up to the poll question.

You need to clarify what team friendly means. If it means paying a player less than hes worth its bad.

That is a great discussion point.
But I am referring to what those in the media call team friendly. Many would call the last Kaepernick contract team friendly.
Incentive based with little guaranteed is more the vibe of team friendly.

No it is never bad for the team. They can cut bait if they wish. Lowers the dead money, when they do. For the players, not if the guarantee money is there. If agents don't want to come to us it is because of the California taxes if they reside there.

Most of these contracts the 49ers give out start with huge money up front. Most players do not have a problem with that.

Who have we really missed out on though because of team friendly contracts?
Mack/OBJ came down to trade compensation. We never got to the contract stage.
Brown seemed to put us off with his antics. Again, never got to contract point.
There was a report on Bell that we offered less overall but more guaranteed. No idea if that's true but it doesn't sound overly team friendly.
So basically - no I don't think it has any significant downside.
The only downside I could potentially see is if we ended up in a situation where in the last year or two of a contract a player decides he wants more $ or guarantees regardless of how much was given up front.

Like others posters pointed out the huge guaranteed $ up front is appealing. After that the contract becomes basically a prove it deal and most professional athletes are super competitive and will likely bet on themselves to perform so no I don't think it's an issue for the 49ers, plus I'm sure they feel if they do get released they'll get their $ somewhere else
