No cause given. He was part of those great Gold Rush teams that weren't very good, but the one team strength was our pass rush.

NOOOOOOO.. Oh my god.. when first began following the niners in 1972 he vic and gene washington were my favorites.. the site of 86 coming around from the side was a joy to see.. the gold rush 1976, set a record for sacks in a nfl season 61.. 10 in a game vs the rams on mnf,, he jimmy webb tommy hart cleveland elam.. i disagree with 2111,, we had great teams when cedrick was with us 71 74, then we dropped off, but the 76 team could have been a super bowl team with that defense pass rush. a great run game. plunket was a game manager , but willie mcgee broke his leg. teams doubled on gene,. other injuries and we went from 6 1 to 86.. then yes we sucked,. he ended his time with the raiders but i remember he ran back a fumble on mnf in the silver and black.... no offense to hailey and fred dean. but cedrick was the all time best sack man for us... so sad

we had a good pass game with gene washington ted kwalick and willie mcgee,, we had a violent rush game with delvin williams and wilbur jackson. and cedrick was on the great niner teams as a young young man in the early 70s pre gold rush. we had a great secondary with jimmy johnson and bruce taylor. great linebackers with wilcox skip. the fudgehammer. no.. we had a great team in 76 but injuries took us down. monte got fired. in came joe and oj and there you go

Hardman had the right name...he was a hard man and QB's feared him. Unfortunately, they didn't keep track of sacks during the regular season. What I can tell you is he hit QB's on a regular basis, most of the time they'd fall. He went to 2 Pro Bowls, but should've gone to a lot more. RIP, Cedrick.

Good guy, met him years ago. He autographed a football for me, let me put on his Raiders superbowl ring. Truly a class act. RIP and my prayers to your family.

Freakin' Raiders...in their statement about Hardman they said "Raiders legend, Cedrick Hardman". BS!!! He played his last 2 seasons with Oakland as a reserve DE. He was a Niner legend!!! Played 10 great seasons in SF.

Awesome, tough, a true pro, Bryant Young reminded me of him. Loved him in "Stir Crazy".
