I don't know man. Deebo is a solid receiver. Of course he's lost a step or two but if he has the ball in open field nobody wants to tackle those tree trunks. He has the best contact moves in the history of football. He knows Kyle's offense and Brock Purdy well. He runs a good slant, after that his route tree is garbage but you don't need all that to move the ball in this system whereas yac is more important

He only has a $250,000 incentive is he places in the top 10 of returners in average yds per return. That doesn't seem like a lock to me.

Also, one of his main incentives is $--------? if he plays 68% or more of offensive snaps. With the current receivers and Keon Black I think 68% would be a stretch. Seems more like he might play 40% at best.

Camp reports are that Deebo is not getting any separation from our DBs. Again, his game was largely predicated on the scheme getting him into open zones, not his WR skills creating separation. He could really struggle against the modern defenses having adjusted to the old KS scheme. The KS scheme is going to have to place more emphasis on man-beater receivers with size and speed. Yes, scheme is still key, but a new type of receiver room - a la the epic makeover we've seen.

As he should be. He is still a tank with a head start where no one can touch him for ten yards, imo he's made for these modern kickoffs.

That was Deebo's issue for the last two seasons with the Niners though. He couldn't create separation against man coverage. And he isn't a Mike Evans type receiver, that you can throw his way even when covered. Against zone he could still be really good. He could find and get the ball into open space and YAC. The big problem was when we would play a team with really good man coverage corners. It was like playing down a player on offense. To be fair though, Deebo wasn't the only receiver on this team that struggled. And once Aiyuk went down, it made the problem worse for the entire group. but regardless he was still bad at getting separation.

Honestly, I think I would like to see Evans, Robinson, Kirk, and Stribling getting more reps on the field. Deebo is good depth though, and we almost always got someone injured. My biggest worry is with his history with this team, that he will end up taking reps from someone better.Or will use him like a RB again, and it wont work like the last season he played for us. I would like nothing more then for Deebo to prove me wrong though. He was a great 49er player once.

Saleh knows our scheme very well too... exciting to hear this from Deebo!

The amount doesn't matter, the fact that he has KR incentives in his deal shows that he'll be the KR this season
