Oh lord, how did a Deebo thread turn into content creator A vs content creator B ? (even tho theyre technically beat writers I wont call them that)

Truth lies somewhere in the middle

He's never going to be prime Deebo again

However he still has real value. Very glad he is back

The problem with that is that Deebo also lined up at X in his best season in 2021; but you won't see Lombardi mention that. He also lined up at the Z; his primary WR spot in 2024; along with snaps at X, Y, and in the backfield. The stuff he's been doing prior to that season. Convenient excuse for the rough season. That's Lombardi in a nutshell though.

Grant would just say he sucked and provide nothing else.

Hence the divide in our forum. The optimistic guys lean toward Lombardi and pessimist lean more toward Cohn.

I'm right in the middle of those two idiots and call a spade a spade; and yes, can still be a fan of this team in doing so.

Long story short
David L is the 49ers dick jockey
and
Grant Cohn is the 49ers dick head

since saying the first one made me a bot according to one poster

The thing with Lombardi is he's not just an unabashed homer, but he's also a complete a*****e. His arrogance is off the charts for a dude who ultimately just regurgitates stats (that he likes).

Yeah bro I remember watching something and he said something along the lines of he's never wrong and knows more than everyone. And said it with a straight face; wasn't joking lol. You hit it on the head though; it's his arrogance that completely turns me off to him along with his voice, just can't stand it.

I much prefer coming here for discussion (good and bad) than listening too any of the content creator or media guys.

That's in large part my fault. Sorry; tried reeling it back in with my "back to Deebo" post to follow that stuff
What's the over under for how many routes he'll run to completion this year?

Just dusted off my 19 Jersey! Ready to rock it first preseason game!

When it comes to Deebo; enlighten me on what his position was? Since Lombardi says he was playing out of position. So was he a WR playing out of position when he lined up in the backfield as a RB? Was he a RB playing out of position when he lined up at the Z as a WR?

right but it wouldnt be putting them in a position to succeed if they are forced to play the wrong spot because it doesn't match their skillset. i mean if we put mike evans as a flanker that wouldnt turn out well. We were asking him to be more of a posession WR which isnt maximizing his skillset.

when he was an All Po and one of the best offensive playmakers in NFL he was just a chess piece and was a flanker he has had huge success there. His skillset should also work well in slot

Nobody is arguing what you are trying to argue. I think you're missing the point. I've already written why I feel Lombardi's assertion that Deebo played "out of position" in 2024 holds no water. The post right below this one that you've quoted on the previous page.

For the bold; are you saying that Deebo didn't get any Flanker snaps in 2024? Or snaps where he was a "chess piece" and had huge success in 2021?

And then please tell me what position "chess piece" is so that I can understand how he was out of that position in 2024.

I think his 2024 problem was no CMC to focus on, no Aiyuk, and the other starter being Jennings. Deebo had less space. I think he would've been even better with Pearsall on the team than without. We'll see what he brings.
Happy to have Deebo back. Hopefully this iteration he plays mostly a traditional WR role. He can't take excessive hits just so he has a flashy game or two. The team needs consistent threat working the mid range game and blocking.

Not having Pearsall will suck but having Evans, strib, Deebo, Watkins, cowing, and Kirk isn't a bad lineup. Still lots of speed and really good size.

we just have to hope they don't get hurt. The size, speed, and physicality this unit brings is pretty cool.

Cowing gave up his number to Deebo

Not worried about Ricky being out, I just hope we get Kittle back soon.
