What did he lie about? What have I missed?

It was a joke. Kyle said he didn't expect any coaching changes...but he might be losing one.

the fact that shanahahan already committed to no changes in the staff, just shows how hard headed he is. It'll be his undoing.

I agree 100%

He needs a better, vetrab staff. So many solid assistants will be available this off-season as well. Very disappointing

Did he say that? Link? He just said we're not firing Saleh.

On Monday, the 49ers' head coach said his mildly beleaguered defensive coordinator would remain in 2019, along with the rest of Shanahan's coaching staff.

OK. So we have to add senior positions then.
Fire Jeff Hafley! The cornerback technique has been atrocious the last two years. Dudes constantly giving free releases, opening the gate early, not using their hands, not stacking or using the boundary, not understanding route concepts, etc.

This. Marquand Manuel is available. He's experienced in the scheme and is actually a good defensive back coach.
Agree the DB coach should be fired but then again he's under Saleh lots of injuries but yes it would be 3rd and 5 and a free release no bump and run no jammimng at the line CBS needed to be more aggressive

We don't blame any coach for the injuries. We are blaming them for the poor technique, people not knowing what they are supposed to be doing, etc. It's one thing if they just don't have the skills, but to be poorly prepared week after week?

.
They did a round about mention looking into the strength and training program.
"It's been too big of a deal for two years," Shanahan said. "Injuries are pretty random, but it's also affected us huge. So, that's something that we definitely have to sit back and really look at it from all angles and put a lot of time into. Just try to find a better perspective at it."
"There's an old adage in football," general manager John Lynch added, "I don't know if it's exclusive to football, but your best ability is availability. We haven't had a lot of guys available, and that's something we're looking into hard. It's been ongoing.
"We'll continue to do that because it's something that needs to change and I don't think anyone's to blame. We have been studying it. We'll continue to, and try to get a handle on that."

FYI there is a reason they are 3rd string players....
This is the type of continuity York was hoping for when he hired Lynch and Shanny.

One parallel to draw from here:

Lynch was part of a huge organizational turnaround in Tampa. That was not overnight and required a ton of patience as a totally new defensive scheme was being implemented as part of it.

I think that factor has Lynch and Shanny communicating to the rest of the staff that this will take time. Fans should see this too. Armchair changes never work. See 2015 & 2016 seasons.
We still have the CB coach from the Browns on staff? He should be the first one terminated.
