tell me what he has done right. i would really be curious on that
The blitzes and there disguises were well designed and often affected Rodgers. There were a lot of faking the A gap by the LBs only to drop into a dual zone taking away the slant or real A gap blitzes that made Rodgers scramble, throw it away or get sacked.

You can only do so much with a bunch of interior DTs and linebackers that can't rush the QB.
Edge rusher won't help if guys are running wide open into the soft zones.

It's Rodgers, what do you want? They got to him often but 1. He is great at getting away 2. Our coverage wasn't winning.Originally posted by jcs:Affected him enough to keep him under 450 yards passing....Originally posted by DaBum:tell me what he has done right. i would really be curious on that

We all but shutdown one of the best QBs ever for 2.5 quarters.

He's improved.
NOT perfect but better.
He will still be the DC next season - book it!

There is no reason for these types of mental errors this late into the season. This is also his second year so these players should be somewhat familiar with the coverages and their responsibilities. Saleh needs to figure out who isn't paying attention in games or maybe practice and deal with it. Saleh needs to hold his position coaches accountable for that units performance. I'd rather have a less talented player playing instead of a physically gifted player who is constantly making mental errors. If I am shannahan and I have to sit a player because of mental errors I'm firing saleh because that's his job.
I agree that it is ultimately his responsibility but he isn't out there coaching DB's. Yes he needs to get on his coaches if they are failing or go to Lynch and say I need to make a change, but he is still new and not only learning his job but also how good his players and coaches are. We are all to quick to make changes when continuity is something we need right now.

who's to say he is not doing all of the things Pac tiger is suggesting. What do people assume is going on at practice? That he is just standing there silent.

I'm glad we are investing so much scheme and drafting on players to help stop the run.
In a league where passing and scoring are at historic highs.

Well, they only scored 3 more points than us in order to get the win. They also needed a couple of our turnovers (we were driving down field) to get that win. I believe we got more yards than them in total offense. I guess their DC sucks too / sucks more They were rated #11 in D...

I'll be very surprised if he's not here next season. If we get him an edge rusher and he's still failing then he'll be gone.

Yeah. A lot of us are just venting out of frustration, but he'll get another chance with a better (hopefully healthy) roster.
I can guarantee you that Belichick would suffer with this depleted roster, his defenses sometimes struggle when his roster blows ours away.

Thanks, good read!!
Since we're not going anywhere, I'm glad they're letting him absorb it all whether he screws up or not. I think he'll be good later in the year and just fine in year two from this experience.
