I think he's at least a bit better than Stafford. Either way, Stafford would be worth JG's contract too if he were the same age now. This is the NFL: QBs get paid.

I do have a fear that Jimmy will be that caliber. He and Stafford both have issues. We could be 0-5 if Jimmy's scary bad interception wasn't called back on penalty.

I don't know if you remember the game but if you did see it we still had two timeouts the two minute warning they were inside the 10 but they may have only kick the field-goal not scored a touchdown. Why would you assume something like that? Even if they score the touchdown we still had plenty of time to score again.

And sorry to break it to you but with Jimmy Garoppolo we would easily be 3-2 AND That is not including the myriad of injuries we have had not to mention the 150 penalty yards in the Chiefs game which more than makes up for the eight point deficit we lost by.

So we can also say the same about the Vikings game with all the drop passes and penalties and injuries that game was easily ours. So you say 0-5 all you want but we are a lot closer to 5-0

I suggest you all check out the editorial on the front page to see how bad CJ is. He had wide-open receivers, check out the fumble he had when our full back was wide open for most likely a touchdown or a huge gain. Beathard sucks He is better than last year but damn that boy is slow in processing

If all you had to go on to evaluate these 2 QBs, where the games they've played this season, would you really see Jimmy G as our savior franchise QB and CJB as the lowly backup? They've both done a good job at moving the team up and down the field, both have high interception numbers which are only partially their fault (like when the ball bounces off the intended receiver). And they've both dealt with a receiving corp that has dropped a lot of passes.

I don't see much difference between the two. Which is good and bad: good because I think we have 2 good QBs, and bad, because I don't think we can pin these losses on Jimmy G being out. We're losing because of s**t defense, and errors from our offensive skill position players.

This is the same mentality people had with Shaun Hill and Alex Smith, or Blaine Gabbert and Colin Kaepernick. The backup QB is the most beloved players on the team until they actually start for an extended period time.

And then................................ it's Mullens!!!

I meant Jimmy is better than Stafford, not CJ. Sorry, I meant to quote someone else's post. CJ is never getting Jimmy G money. Stafford would if he were 26/27, imo, even knowing his career trajectory.

People are prisoners of the moment. CJ has not done markedly worse than Garappolo has this year, and there is no real measurement that can prove he has. Jimmy is WAY more talented than CJ, and that cannot be argued. But their results have been fairly similar, or at the VERY least, not as big a difference as there should be given the difference in talent.

Here's the difference

Last Sunday, JG couldn't find his way out of the bedroom because he was making porn

Last Sunday, CJ couldn't find his way out of a wet paper bag because he was caught sucking
I don't understand how someone can watch Jimmy and CJ play and see no differences. Jimmy plays at a different speed than CJ. He is lightyears better in the pocket and processes the field quicker with a quicker delivery and release. He's one of the few QBs in the league that can reset his throwing platform in the blink of an eye. It's beautiful to watch him reset his platform on boots to his left.

Instead of allowing this to become a tantrum thread about our quarterback situation (It's all I ever see on here anymore) Let's just break this down nice and simple

Healthy Jimmy= Jimmy play

Injured Jimmy=CJ play

That's just the way it is. Everytime I see Mullens brought up, I get teleported back to my seats at Candlestick during the "We want Carr"game. Impulsively angry 49er fans are not rational people.

Let's not forget that Jimmy Garoppolo was a backup QB, who only has half a season worth of starts under his belt for us. He's been good, but people forget we had a lot of problems in the Redzone with Jimmy, and also issues with turnovers.

People are still under the spell Jimmy cast last year, and also people's view of CJ is tainted by his rookie year, which was not impressive. That's why I asked people what they would think, hypothetically, if they had no idea who these guys were, what has been the real dif based on this year's play? Jimmy seems to get a free pass for his many interceptions, but CJ does not (even though a couple of them have come off dropped passes). The fact that DL blew past our OL and stripped CJ as he was going to pass is also evidence that he sucks.

Jimmy has stood in the pocket like a frozen statue many times this year and taken the sack rather than throwing it away, but it's like nothing he does will be counted against him, vs everything wrong that happens gets blamed on CJ.

Jimmy pretty much (3 INTs) cost us the game in Minnesota so, that day #HeSucked big time!!
