And was still getting guys busting wide open. Would have loved to see that entire game played with Goodwin. His speed is really needed in opening stuff up. Just off the top of my head, I don't recall seeing as many Yankee concept/Pin concepts as I'm use too with Kyle. (I'll let the film correct me if my recollection was wrong. Usually I'm pretty good as seeing them in game).

You gotta think that the loss of McKinnon really killed the short passing game. I don't think Kyle has faith in either Morris or Breida catching the ball out of the backfield. Play calling really suffered in the red zone with the runs up the middle and Jimmy missing wide open Kittle

can he not catch or something? Breida seems like your prototypical pass catching back. quick, speed, can make guys miss....
He's not a good receiver...his catch rate percentage was not good last year and his drop percentage would have led the league if he would have qualified.

wtf was he working on in the offseason then. he should've known that this offense relies on pass catching backs.

he reportedly worked extensively on route running and catching
The Good

Fred Warner - this guy is a good linebacker. Looking forward to seeing him and Foster for years to come.
Pettis - great TD catch and punt returner.
Buckner - looking for an all pro season
Grappalo - his release is unbelievable. I think we will have to live with his decision making. Seems like a gun slinger.
McGlinchey - good first rookie start.

The Bad

Solomon Thomas - did he go to Stanford?
Williams -lost at slot corner.
Garcon - drops including a TD,
Kittle - drop a big play TD and the next play was a TD the other way. Football is all about momentum.
Defense Tacking - alot of missed tackles.
Doctors and Conditioning - lots of guys getting hurt with mostly benign plays.
Overall Linebackers - we missed Roster and Smith.
Morris - he fumbles twice at the goal line. Unacceptable.

-Other than that stupid offsides, Solomon got alot of pressure.
-Warner was a beast. Him and Foster are going to be deadly together
-Tartt is a run stopping freak. No joke. check the tape. He was constantly there to meet the RB at the LOS. Also made some good pass breakups in coverage. We got our Chancellor
-Kittle is a beast. Missed that one ball but he is a good safety net.
-Pettis looks to emerge throughout the year as a receiving threat.

Negatives:
-O-line. i get it though, this was the best d-line in the league. I hope our line improves with lesser talent against them
-Turnovers. This was the reason we lost the game. Had we not fumbled at the end zone or thrown a pick six, we win the game.
-Injuries. Wowza! good to see no one had a season ending inury
-Garappolo somewhat. He was getting hit, against the best defense in the league, 1 interception wasnt his fault, playing from behind, no run game, receivers dropping the balls, morris fumbled at the end zone. Hard to put the blame on him.
-Garcon. a complete non factor today. Pettis is going to take his job.
-Running game. severly disappointing. Although Breida was turning it on at the end of the game. Should of got him more involved. I saw if steelers give us a good offer, trade for bell.

There were a lot of missed tackles today. They have to clean it up there.

I'm just hoping for 2-2 and then 3-3. If we can get to 6-4 by the bye week then we have a shot.

Under the negatives, I would add 1 more thing, play selection on offense, I mean we run the ball three times with Morris on the goal line in the first half, they became too predictable. RB blocking too, really crazy, should have been able to block the safety, hope things develop better next week or we will be hurting.

I hope so. Kind of thinking he should take over as the play by play guy for preseason.

Breida had no chance on that play. One blocker, two blitzers, he blocked the inside guy like he was supposed too. When the defense brings more guys than you have blockers for, you have to hope the QB gets it out of there before they get to him.

As much as I know that we could have won this game easily, this lost could be the best thing that happened to this team after going 7-0 last year under Grappy... Seems to me that everyone on offense were out of focus..

May be, just maybe, this would re focus everyone and get us back to reality in believing that WE DON'T JUST SHOW UP AND EXPECT TO WIN just because of what happened towards the end of the season last year..

I keep hearing people say that Kittle dropped a TD pass, but he didn't really "drop" it, the ball was over his head and past his reach. He may have let up a bit on the route though.

The long pass hit him square in the hands, he just closed them to soon.

The one in the end zone was high.
