Offseason proof 49ers are aiming for contention in 2019

He wont be a GM for his full 6 years of contract

They have their Brady and enough chess pieces for Shanahan to play with on offense. They added the best FA-Center to back that up. They have three early first-rounders in their Dline. They drafted an under the radar linebacker in Warner, they drafted a lot of dbacks to create competition and added Sherman as a role-model and leader who will more likely than not start for them. They could still bring back Dumervil.

To say that they didn't address immediate issues is debatable.

We will win more games this year. This isn't a team ready to go deep into the playoffs. Not yet. They are definitely looking at building long term with their philosophy, that doesn't mean the team doesn't get incrementally better in the short term. When we look back at the start of 2019,and review what Lynch and Shanahan put on the field next year vs what we had in 2017 when they took over, and what they did this year, it is going to be a wow moment.

They want to win, but they are definitely not throwing everything they have into winning it all right now while mortgaging the future.

He's always been terrible but his whole idea about trading Garappolo for the #1 pick and signing Cousins made him look even more retarded. He knows nothing about how the NFL works and his daddy probably pulled strings to get him a job.

He thinks he's asking all these tough questions and challenging the FO by keeping them accountable, but he really isn't doing anything except making himself look even more like a twerpy little c**t.

right now this team is an 8 win team. maybe 9. IF the defense improves and IF the guards come through and the new rookie tackle does this job
Grunt makes me miss Skip Bayless and Timmy K

Jimmy G's long term success is still a question mark. Of course, the arrow is up, but there isn't anything proven on his part. Cohn was thinking outside the box and it was interesting. I mean, what if we had 2 picks in the top 10 and picked up Chubb and McGlinchey AND signed Cousins?

And given what where we have been as a team for the last three years that's a freaking miracle upgrade while building for the future.

We would have been better at edge but Cousins couldn't carry this team if he couldn't carry the Redskins.

Cohn is a moron. Don't start a thread for his crap articles.

Lol, stop trying to pretend like there is some deeper meaning to his inane BS. He throws s**t at the wall with writing that would be considered subpar even for this forum. He isn't his dad, he isn't Ratto, he isn't Kawakami, he is a wannabe imitation of all of the above.

We have posters here that put out far more insightful and intriguing commentary.

If Cohn's column got bumped for weekly game film reviews from jonnydel and Thl that would be a lot more useful than anything he has ever produced.

will not disagree. it is just funny. just when we get alot of people being logical and saying we are not a deep run in the playoff team yet. then people start with 11 12 win team, no reason why we can not win the division etc. i think grant is right in the fact.. i think the little win streak we had. while good and positive at the time. means nothing now and i think in some respects it made some people think our problem areas we had before the win streak are somehow no longer there
