Bring 'em on. These are great. Can you start one for Dwelley and McFadden?

Haha I'll see what I can do. The one thing that I'm sure had probably 90% or more to do with Shelton dropping is arm length. 31.5" is very, very short, even for an interior OL. Most starting or Pro Bowl interior OL have arms over 32 inches.
But like I pointed out in another thread, despite the lack of length and supposed lack of "NFL strength" he did a fantastic job against 3rd round DT Harrison Phillips (Stanford), a guy with roughly 34" arms who put up 42 reps on the bench (1st among DL at the combine). Coleman didn't do the weight bench so we have no idea what his numbers would've been but with an NFL training staff behind him, he has the tools to gain whatever strength he needs, and when coupled with his sound technique, that will help him make an NFL roster.

When I read about Shelton's Washington career I was wondering why he didn't get drafted. Sounds like the perfect b/u for Richburg...and he can play OG, too. Just might be a guy to keep your eye on.
Because teams want 300+ offensive lineman. Stupid pigeon-holing. They would rather develop a huge guy than grab a polished small guy.

*Physical at the point of attack, Shelton also thrived in pass protection on short dropbacks. He didn't allow a single pressure on three-step dropbacks last season to finish T-No. 1 among that same group of centers.

It worked. Watched the entire Stanford game and clips of others. Kid is a perfect backup to Richburg and great for our scheme. Like you, I'm suprised he wasn't drafted even with the short arms

I mean, you look at some of the other centers in this class that got taken, like for example Scott Quessenberry (31.75" arms) and Bradley Bozeman (31.25" arms), the arm length isn't there either. Also look at first round pick Billy Price had 32-inch arms but the same wingspan as Shelton at 75 1/4.
I hope everyone looking too much into these measurables and passing on him makes us look like geniuses later on as we hopefully see Shelton develop into a starting caliber player working behind Richburg.

Very interesting point. I'm looking forward to seeing him play in preseason.
