We'll likely see a string of 1-yr contracts...it's a way to save cap space on a bigger extension while letting the players know they're valued, just not the right fiscal environment to give them a longer deal. Chances are, guys like Wilson will see a bigger contract in 2022.

Wilson is a very underrated RB. Still has some fumbles issues but much less than his rookie year. A Mostert-Wilson due should be nice.
I can see them using a 5th or 6th round pick on a RB since both Mostert and Wilson are FA in 2022, and Mostert already whined about his contract once.
Hasty will be intriguing to watch in year 2. And who knows who will be the next UDFA RB to be developed.
Hope they learnt their lesson and never pay a RB more than 5m per year again. No more wasting money on Mckinnon or Coleman.
PD: Has Matt Breida done anything in Miami?

Hope you're right and this is a way we manage to keep most or many of our most important FAs

Why would he agree to that though? If he is guaranteed UFA or $2ish million?
I imagine there has to be some incentives in there.

He was scheduled to be a RFA, I'd actually be surprised if the deal is for the league minimum of $920K, but stranger things have happened. Either way he wasn't getting a GTD salary as a RFA unless he signed a multi year deal, now next offseason, he'll get GTD money if he plays well for a 3rd yr in a row, as you have to remember 2019 he was good in the limited playing time he got, 2020 he was even better, 2021 who knows how good he'll be, It'll be fun to see in camp & preseason(if there is one) to see Mostert & Wilson battling it out for the top RB spot, at first I thought maybe Mostert would be the main guy, and would be extended, but with the way 2020 played out, they'd be best not to extend him.

Hasty??
Another late round/UDFA
I wouldn't mind something between Wilson and Hasty just on paper seeing as he's coming back from injury.
Wouldn't pay much for it though.
LOL. Frank isn't exactly an outside zone RB esp. at this age.

Most underrated player on the team. Glad he's back as our #2 RB!

Agreed. I just want him to be back for nostalgia. I still wonder if Frank can play fullback. I know he can block, he can still run, and can catch a bit out of the backfield. If Juice can't be kept I wonder if Frank could fill that role to win his ring?

Great point. In a declining cap year, you as a player don't want a long term contract specially if you predict the cap to go *up* next year and the year after. Get the long term contract when the cap is rising, not falling.

Agree. Hasty looked good to me in the games he played. I am also looking forward to the next UDFA RB to be developed. Agree on McKinnon too, he got way too much money for the talent he was bringing in, when I think Kyle can develop those RB's in house from the annual pool of UDFA's and/or low round picks. Kyle has three 5th round picks to play with in this draft.

RB room is in great shape. Two high level backs in Wilson + Mostert. Hasty could be a real good 3rd back and we'll add depth late in the draft I'm sure.

Great point about Hasty being a McKinnon 2.0 -- I agree.
