1. CB (FA)
1a. DE (Draft)
3. Center (FA)
4. SAM (Draft)
5. RB, receiving back (FA/Draft)
6. G (FA/Draft)
7. LB depth (FA/Draft)
8. WR depth (FA/Draft)
9. TE depth (FA/Draft)
In FA, get CB and Center. In the draft, get some pass rushers, then go after BPA for depth.

Our pass rush was by far our biggest weakness last season. We struggled to bring pressure with only 4 guys against some of the very worst offensive lines in football.
Fix the pass rush and Jimmy won't have to be put at risk throwing the ball 40 times a game.
KS has shown he can hide the weaknesses of a less than stellar offensive line, but there is no way you can hide a weak pass rush. You start blitzing and become predictable and teams will exploit it quickly.
No pass rush, no playoffs.
Bad pass rush, the defense has a hard time defending. That's bad.
Bad interior OL puts Jimmy at risk to more hits and increases the chance of injury. Even when he was showing off his quick release, he was getting smacked. Like you mentioned, the number of times Jimmy drops back to pass matters, a defense helps that. But even if he's dropping back 25-30 times, those are a dangerous 25 times with a bad OL.
Plus better o-line leads to more consistent running game, which takes pressure off of the passing game, fewer dropbacks for Jimmy to get hit.
I think too many people in this thread are ignoring defense because they want to protect Jimmy at all cost. Last I checked we have a pretty damn good tandem at tackle who can accomplish that. The interior of our offensive line might need upgrading, but it's not as pathetic as our pass rush and shouldn't be the #1 priority.
The last thing I want this team to become is the New Orleans Saints prior to this season where their offense was excellent and yet they stunk because their defense was historically bad. Hell, Green Bay is another team with a HOF QB, yet they haven't made much much noise in recent years because they can't stop anyone.
I don't care how good the rest of our team becomes because none of it will matter if we can't get the other teams offense off the field on 3rd downs.

I think it would be a huge step up if they could find an effective edge rusher but they're like good QB's, very hard to find. Another good corner would be nice as well. The o-line is a bit of an unknown at this point. Garnett will be coming back and Magnuson was really coming on before he got hurt so they could both factor in to how well the line comes together next year. Brown played the last part of the season with a bad shoulder and then there were some indications that the team wasn't completely satisfied with him for other reasons. Kilgore is steady if unspectacular and seems to want to stay. Staley probably has a couple of more years. More than almost any other position group the o-line depends on the cohesion that comes from playing together as a unit so the pieces for improvement may already be in place just have to give them the time to get it together.

I don't care how good the pass rush is because none of it will matter if Beathard is the QB.

True, I was going to say DB and pass rush, I trust JG enough even with a mediocre OL but we will look like Green Bay if we dont get good protection.

Everyone realizes Dontae Johnson was our starter at CB last year right? By the end of the year he would've made Mike Rumph look good. CB is our biggest need by far.

Obviously, the first thing is signing Jimmy G to a long term contract. Then we also need to address resigning some of our other players like Hyde, etc.. After that we need to Sign in FA Landry WR, Fuller CB, Ogletree LB, Butler CB, Richburg Center. Then we draft Nelson the Guard from ND with the 9th pick! Boom Championship!

I agree, and there are prime CB candidates in FA this year. I hope we target Fuller from Chicago and Butler from Pats. instantly makes our unit a pro bowl unit to go along with our beast front 7. Starters would be, Whitherspoon, Fuller, Butler, Colbert, and then Tartt.

Starting Line would be Staley, Kilgore, Richburg, Nelson, Brown with the other guys filling in. I like Kilgore because he was on the team with gore and our Super Bowl run, but I'm not set on it. We could look elsewhere or use one of the other guys.

I'd rather they grab a young mature productive vet at lb. Ogletree is a better choice imo. Nelson is by far the only choice for us at 9. Pairing him with Staley and Brown and a FA center should be a priority

Might go that way, considering Reubens legal problems. 《Sigh!》

DL is too broad. Specifically DE. DE, CB and C make the top 3 needs.
Our OG's were both rated in the top32 last year in PFF at the end of the year. Staley and Brown are both top 15 OT's. I think some are uninformed.
The C position needs a huge upgrade.
Jimmy makes the OL look way better.
Our CB's are downright awful.

LB has to be our top priority. No way we trust the position to that dumbass.
