I call b******t, so basically the only way he'll get any kind of respect Is if he wins a super bowl? Something that not many players have accomplished regardless how great they were? That's pathetic. Kaepernick lost the super bowl In 2012 and the media still talked About him like he was one of the up & coming QBs of his generation along with Wilson,Luck,& Cam(he wasn't) . Joe Montana didn't have the loudest personality and he still got plenty of endorsements. Granted Joe earned his hardware pretty early on in his career.
Joe got very few endorsements for a guy that won 4 SBs and was MVP and considered the GOAT. Look at how many Aaron Rogers and Payton Manning have had and they haven't won as many between them as Joe. Kaep was a phenom at the time with his speed in the open. Remember the game against GB. He was something different and also had more of an outgoing personality. He talked a lot and of course he eventually did the sideline protest. That's not a knock on how good Jimmy is but some guys are more quiet and laid back. Joe Namath got lot's of publicity and several commercials because he was a personality as well as a football player. Companies want faces that are going to sell products. They don't care about being fair.
Jimmy hasn't gotten much respect around the league so far which is why I say the only way he will is to win a SB and have a good game. He has the looks to be a media star but I'm not sure about the personality. He's not super comfortable in front of the camera so I don't know how he would be in a commercial. I hope he gets the chance.
