Here you go Lobo, in answering your 3 questions.
1. Signing Ward has NO BEARING on our comp formula.
2. Picking up AA's option has NO BEARING on our comp formula.
3. Trading AA would have NO BEARING on our comp formula.

Bringing back our OWN FA's has no bearing in the formula. The only thing that applies to the formula, is the amount of qualified FA's we bring in during an off season, compared to what we lose in FA. The players we lose or bring in during FA that apply to the formula, are guys that have become URFA's from their team by having their contract completed. Now if a guy is CUT, then losing him, or the team signing him in FA doesn't have him count in the formula. If you decline a players option, then that player WILL count towards your comp formula. If you trade for players, or trade players away, that has NO BEARING in the formula.
