We are rebuilding this roster, plain and simple. We will gladly sacrifice wins now for sustained relevance in the near future.

11 Snaps...that's all he's contributed.

I know, right? BUST. They should gave cut him middle of Game 1 because he didnt have the pick 6s yet.

So, I guess a Hyde extension isn't coming anytime soon.

Could just be situation football. Indy is stout vs the run embarrassingly pathetic vs the pass. Play the 3rd down back to loosen them up.

His usage was odd today

Hyde is kind of a known commodity. Pretty clear the team wants to see what they have with other players in game situations, since this season was never going to be a good one.

We aren't talking about wins lol, it would just be nice to see some player development

Kittle, Taylor, Breida, the entire Special Teams (mostly comprised of rookies), and yes, even Thomas on occasion (such as last week). It's all there to be seen if one opens their eyes.

If you get it then its reasonable to expect that this wasn't going to be a 10-6 team that went to the playoffs this year. These guys to their credit didn't apply a band-aid, they blew the roster up and started a full rebuild, it will take time and this is Year 1.
im pretty surprised as the only thing that is stopping us from winning now is our own mistakes and not decided by the other team. i don't think we are that far off

I believe 1979 was our worst start.

Walsh was able to score TD's with that team at least...this is worse.

The offense was better in 1979, but the defense was much worse.

Don't get that kind of talk. He is playing hurt and has plenty of games to finish the job.

This was seriously a 88/89 cowboy Landry to Jimmy Johnson type blow up.....we now just need to find a Vikings to give us a Herschal Walker trade

That team went from 3-13(Landry last year) to 1-15 to 7-9 to 11-5 to 13-3 to 12-4. This is the goal.

If they achieve the top pick in the 2018 draft, there will be at least a handful of woeful, QB-hungry Vikings-type (read: incredibly stupid) teams willing to give up as many as 3 1st round picks and more for the apple of their eye. The Niners could certainly parlay that into a Cowboys-style haul.

I know. It's easy to see what people are frustrated though.

I was as happy as anyone when we signed Kyle. I felt like we hit the lottery and I still feel good about him. We just need to real QB. I backed Hoyer as hard as anyone, but it's clear that he can't get the job done at a high level.

The defense isn't the problem. Our secondary is garbage, but they keep the opponent's score manageable. The offense is just dropping yet ball. If I had to point to a single area I'd say that Kyle is abandoning the run too early and too often. We just don't have the receivers or QB to air it out as much as we do.

Not getting the #1 pick is fine. We need a veteran QB (Cousins, Garrappolo or Luck) and a legit #1 WR. If we can sign the QB and draft Calvin Ridley, I hunk we'll be on the right path.

Oh well, there's a lot of what ifs

I don't think he was hurt - was a coaches decision.

This scenario would need Beathard to be the guy or acquiring Cousins. A Cousins with a '12 RGIII type haul would be pretty sexy IMO.

To do that in a close, winnable game seems odd though, right? There's something else to it.

Either he's hurt or there's a reason the don't want him on the field

Context of the other games...Seattle, Arizona, Rams and Colts all had the same exact production against us. They just didn't beat themselves like we did.

I didn't know you can only score when they do. That could be our problem if our o and d has to gage the other team's production to determine how much they'll play.

If we had more talent, yes, we could. But we don't yet are still in every game to the wire. I'd say then, so what excuses do those other 4 teams have?

I get that people are frustrated but I much rather the teardown and build it all up again approach then being like the Giants and trying to buy your way into the playoffs, winding up with a completely unbalanced roster. It will take longer to be "respectable" but if they make smart decisions then I think you will see this team setup for a long successful run.

I fully expect the offense to be addressed in a major way in the offseason, including a new QB, whether through FA or the draft as well as upgrades at WR and OL. By this time next year I think we'll be seeing a much better overall product in terms of W-L.

Maybe, in their heart of hearts, the Niners don't want to win a winnable game. Especially this year against another winless team, next year's draft being what it will be. Part of the six-year plan.
