I saw a note, that we've scored points on something crazy like 13 of our last 16 drives. That's crazy.

The more comfortable Jimmy G is with Shanahan's system, he could end these drives with TDs.

Just watch this perrrrrfect 5 step drop to an out throw. The timing......

And under C no less. I heart JG.
Those FGs turn to TDs and we're blowing these teams out

It's a process and that's whats gonna eventually happen but doing what we've done so far is crazy. It's the receipe of an explosive offense.

I'm seriously blown away by the transformation of this team in the last month.

Sometimes its better to be lucky than good. We lucked out getting Garapollo (and even the timing). If we got him during last offseason, we'd have to give up a boatload and we'd still be a mediocre team as our defense was getting experience. Now, we get Jimmy G, we retain our high draft picks, and our defense has a season to gel...

Harbaugh's offense never achieved that level of success. Then again, we didn't have JG.
Here's another play that doesn't show up as a TD but sets up our first FG. It's 3rd and 18 after a bad blown block that led to a sack. We're on the cusp of FG range and anything we get makes it that much easier. Let alone if we can manage a first down.

What's important to realize is that 3 plays before on a 3rd and long Dick LeBeau dropped 8 into coverage to stop JG and he was able to move around and find T. Taylor off schedule for a first down. He doesn't want to give him the chance to do it again.

Being 3rd and very long and not wanting to give JG the chance to convert it he's going to bring the pressure. He's called a cover 1 with 6 guys in coverage but brings 2 extra rushers off the weakside. This puts the O-line in conflict. There's 3 blockers and 4 rushers. The idea is that you force either a sack to take you out of FG range or the QB has to make a quick throw on a route short of the first down.

He first looks up top where he's got a variation of a "pole" concept going on. It puts the same stress on the defense as it's trying to put the deep corner in conflict with the deep out and streak up the seam. Being that's it's man-coverage with a big cushion this concept is defeated. Seeing it's man, Jimmy moves to his post to the TE over the middle(#3 in the progression or a possible "alert"). Either way, he has to identify right from the snap that it's man-coverage.

Hyde struggled with some of TEN exotic blitz packages this game but he did a good job here. With Hyde in pass pro his defender is going to blitz. Beadles is also losing his battle on the outside, the pocket is collapsing and JG has to get rid of the ball. Celek wins his inside leverage, time to let it rip.

There is a bust in coverage by TEN but it's not like it mattered because bourne got taken down by the turf monster.

Nearly a 1st down. +17 on 3rd and 18. Just 3 feet short.

Just check out this ball placement with a collapsing pocket......*drool*

and the Titans said, "he didn't do anything special"......lol

a measly 7% 3 and out. Anyone wondering why our defense suddenly looks a little better?

Since the 0-9 start (5 games)

Yards per game - 395
Pass per game - 288
Rush per game - 107
Points per game - 22

That yardage total will always get you in the top 5 of the nfl and some years may even lead the league. The growth of the offense over the last third of the season has be substantial.

If Bill Walsh is the father of the WCO, then Dick LeBeau is a father of the zone blitz. When it comes to blitz packages, few can scheme it better than the 80 year old living legend. It seemed he was set on attacking the 49ers OL whenever they came with an empty backfield, and the majority of the time TEN was able to pressure JG. Here are a number of plays where the 49ers went empty and TEN came with creative pressure.

vs Cover3 "Rip" (rotate right). TEN will drop a DE into coverage and overload the left side of the 49er's OL. They still only bring 4 (black are rushers, blue drops into coverage). This play is two plays after the one jd cutup in post #5 and again attacks AJackson (right CB aligned over Hyde)). Notice the cushion that AJackson is playing with, since he's a deep 1/3.

There's the Rip rotation. JG already in his throwing motion because he understands Jackson's deep 1/3 responsibility - Jackson can't play tight on Hyde even though there's no way Hyde is going to beat Jackson vertically. The threat from the #2 (Goodwin, red route) forces Jackson to honor his deep 1/3.

There are two 2v1s (red), one 1v1 (Staley), and 1 free rusher. LeBeau displays why he's a grandmaster by scheming a free rusher.

+8 due to JG's understanding of where to go with the ball presnap.
