Were not having great injury luck, but it's nothing that most other teams aren't dealing with too.

The ONLY team on the aggregate average over the past 5 years who've been more injured than us. It looks like they are right on pace for year 6 too.
Thanks for posting!

Observation: the #49ers new training staff no longer has players working back from injury on the side field with synthetic grass. Injured players do their conditioning/rehab on the natural grass fields the team practices on. Curious if the fake turf eventually gets swapped out.

Well, they're trying!

Maybe it is easier not to notice any blood on the real grass rather then the artificial turf? Did this allow management to turn a blind eye to activate injured players too early?

This team has a stunning amount of key position starters hurt every single year. What do our trainers do? Do these guys even workout in the off season? It's just incredible how much we get hammered by that over the years. It seems we have way more key injuries than most teams. I hope it doesn't derail our season this year. Because talent wise and on paper at least and through the first 1/4 of the season we seem much improved. We were so bad for so long we finally drafted enough difference makers and added in a few free agents too. I hope we can get them back healthy ASAP.

Challenge you to find an NFL team that isn't beat up.
I am sure some are ok - but most are limping.

They all have injuries. But it seems like we have really key ones which just derail your season. Like 2 OT's. Just unbelievable. Can't it be 1 G or something? You can always plug in a G. Now if your 2 edge guys at OT go down you are going to be in big trouble with outside pass rush which is the biggest game changer in the NFL anyway.

Patriots have had 4 OL injured after 2 OL retired already since they started training camp. 2 of those injuries are IR (starting C) and IR-DTR (starting LT).
It's simply the way the game goes. Brees is missing 4-6 weeks because his hand hit another hand.

Every team has injuries. But not all injuries are equal, hence the premise of this thread focusing on quality and quantity of injuries. Only the Redskins have been hit harder than the 9ers over the past 6 years and there is a massive correlation between health & playoffs. It's as strong as the correlation between turnovers and wins/losses.
If we continue on this pace of injuries and still make the playoffs, we'd be one of just a few outliers to do that. And so far, the only ones who were able to do it had a franchise QB and I don't believe any did much in the playoffs.
In short, Garoppolo may have to carry us here.
Note: TinyPic is dead so you can no longer see the chart in the OP but if anyone wants it, let me know in my inbox and I'll email them to you.
