Finally, it's here. The 2018 Adjust Games Lost metric.
As expected, on the aggregate average over the past 5 years, we have now moved into 31st (i.e. 2nd most injured team only behind Washington). When you've never ranked higher than 23rd, that, people, is an epidemic. The original post with yearly breakdowns has been updated and here are the final results:
Look who's been the healthiest in the NFCW (and tops in the NFL the past 5 years)

We are 4x more injured than the rams? Yasu Pisto. That is horrible. Brings up a good question. WTF are the Rams doing/not doing differently than us? It would be worth looking into. Right now that explains the W/L differential between the two teams. Also until we get and stay healthy we ain't beating a team that plays 4x less injured. (Ok, injuries). That is gross. In medicine we would call this an epidemic. And, there is an answer out there somewhere.
Have posted long ago, that one way to imrpove on this is to cut out the drafting, trading, FAing, injured guys or guys with injury hx. Then we go out and acquire 3,4. Guys with injury hx or rehabbing. May be we want to reconsider this from here on out.

Pretty insane, huh? Seattle and the Rams have been the two most healthy teams over the past 5 years. Chicago goes from one of the least to healthiest is one season from 5 to 12 wins. Talent almost seems secondary to health, huh? Ha. And the only thing that can get you through bad health is a very experienced and talented QB. See the first post for details by year and those teams below and above the AGL Threshold.

I hope we can follow chicagos footsteps minus the s**tty kicking in the playoffs.

100%. What's funny is I had been saying the Bears had built up quite a bit of talent and if they got healthy, watch out. Sure enough. I believe we can do the same. I really do.

Well, at least there is some consistency there.
Any reason why the ACL train that was stoked by a certain former GM shouldn't be added to in the last few seasons (brick by brick).
Jokes aside the front office had no choice but to fire the conditioning staff.

Yeah, this trend is certainly not a GM-thing but a SF-thing.
No question and this new staff really has is work cut out for them already with a grocery long list of players to work on.

"Next on episode 282 of the Better Rivals podcast, myself, Oscar Aparicio, and David Neumann rip off NCommand's work over the past 5 years on Football Outsiders AGL injuries from the 49erswebzone and talk about it for 30 minutes (and still chalk it up to luck)...and then we'll talk about GOT for another 30 minutes. Enjoy."
...must be a slow news week.

This analysis is so great, it shows whatever problems that we had, wasn't the ownership, Paraag, or Shanny/Lynch's fault.

With all the bad here in this hideous chart, there is one silver lining. If by some miracle, (murkle), all our 33% injured return in good health, think of the additional talent we would ahve that yr, whenever it happens. Dang, that is like Christmas or...2 drafts and 2 FA seasons all balled up into one. IF, however , they don't heal up, well....

Ha. I don't think ownership or even the FO could be blamed here. Staff carried over from the Harbaugh regime, then redone when Kyle got here and then again big time this year. And there was one constant...injuries.
If the FO specifically targeted injured players for fun and tried to sabotage the team, it wouldn't have produced this 5 year result and this consistently. Crazy.
It's been a brutal run indeed.
