Yeah, that Labrum tear is bothering. What is the usual recovery time from surgery on that? If it isn't too long, then he needs to get it the day after this coming season ends. Basically let him and his agent know that if they want that extension, he needs to have that fixed, so there's less, "WORRY" on their future investment into him.
Like most depends on the severity of the tear. I've had labrum tears in both shoulders and multiple surgeries on both. From my experiences, I've had a simple orthopedic surgery with small incisions and sutures in there that melt away, fully recovered in a couple months. Big cut from top of shoulder to under armpit with two titanium bolts inside the shoulder, that took me over a year to recover from. From my personal experience, I played football and baseball in highschool through a labrum tear and the tear only got worse in time with more dislocations and subluxation. He should have fixed it right after the SB like Dee Ford did in my opinion bottom line, physical therapy and rehab will never do the trick and only bandaid the issue

Had we won the super bowl, no one would be complaining. This is why it's so tough to get back. Gonna lose cheap assets. That's the name of the game

This. I don't care what the top TE's right now make. He deserves a lot more. Start at $15M per year, at least 5 years.

Yeah, I think $15M/per gets it done.

15 million might do the trick, problem is I think we only have about 7 million in cap space right now and a ton of uncertainty over next years cap. 🤞

Good thing the people making the financial decisions do.

If it is going to be over 15 per to get a deal done, then I would just play this season out, and then play the franchise game. We can control him for the next 3 seasons at a far cheaper rate than what this huge extension would be. We also avoid being locked into a huge deal with him, if something devastating happens to him like tearing a bunch of ligaments in his knee, or lord forbid something worse.
Going year to year with him might be in our best interest, if him and his agent aren't willing to accept a, "FAIR" deal. Going 20-35% over the current highest paid position is unheard of, and his agent seems to be wanting to go 50-100% higher than the current highest paid (Not realistic). If we are going to play out this year with Kittle, and then tag him, then we need to work out an extension with T. Williams right now, because we can only tag 1 guy this off season, and Kittle to me is a must, also T. WIlliams might be more willing to lock in more, "NEW MONEY" due to him sitting out last season, and being hurt the season before.

I'd we go down that route, we risk alienating him. He'd rightfully hold out and we'd end up looking like the Redskins.

I think if we offer him 25-40% more than the current highest paid TE, which it's not like the current highest paid TE's are out dated, since both of the highest paid TE's got their deals THIS OFF SEASON. So us willing to go 25-40% MORE than those record breaking deals, shows that we're being more than generous in our offer, since something like this has probably NEVER happened before. If Kittle and his agent turn that down, then we've done more than our part to get a deal done, and the pressure then is on Kittle and his agent, especially when we have the power to control him for the next 3-4 seasons at a far cheaper rate then what we would be offering him in his current extension offer.
At some point the player out prices what his worth is to us, and we have to think about the whole team, and not just a fan favorite, look at what we did with Buckner. Def was beloved, and a top 3 player at his position, but he wanted/got 20+ million a season, and we could not afford that. Smartly Lynch was able to get a semi early 1st round pick for him, and save all the money we would have owed him under his 5th year option. Luckily Kinlaw slid to us, and we basically got Defos replacement at about 20% of what Defo was going to cost. If Kittle and his agent play hard ball, sadly we might have to do this same scenario again (I hope not) but we now have more weapons at WR than before (Samuel 2nd season, Auyuk+healthy Taylor+healthy Hurd) so they can take some of those catches away from Kittle, and we drafted colleges best blocking TE in Woerner, so we have other options going forward, if this Kittle deal seems unlikely to ever happen.
