the release wasn't the problem. Its his mental processing of the field.
Yeah, Beathard has outstanding arm talent, he simply lacks the pocket presence, awareness, and processing speed to be a legit NFL quarterback. That last trait is something I think Mullens leaves everyone in the dust on or at least matches Jimmy.
Kinda sucks that Beathard is so slow. You wonder if years in one offense would be enough to make him good enough to be a borderline starter, but I don't want to find out.
I'd tend to disagree with everything you said here. You've made a whole lot of irritatingly uneducated and conclusory statements there.
When was the last time you watched him play?
CJ has game experience so he understands the speed of the pro game. He got thrown into the deep end as a raw rookie amd acquitted himself passing well under the circumstances. And since then has remained in the NFL environment on the sidelines, watching, for an additional two years. I would venture that you actually don't know what his "processing" capabilities are currently.
This off season KS said that it wasn't clear to him which one of the two NM or CJ was clearly better. Do you think that KS is being disingenuous there? Yes or No? Let's hear it. Because if KS is being truthful (and most zoner's swear their first born's head on the fact that he always speaks the truth), that's pretty impressive. Because Mullens IMO is hands down the quickest "processor" on the squad. And CJ is easily the most physically talented. So if he comes close to emulating Mullins in the head game he's coming along fine.
The other guy has been in the league what 7, 8 years. Still hasn't mastered the art of "processing" the whole field. Granted give him some more time and it's possible he comes around. But he gets cut all the slack in the world. But this guy, without the benefit if getting time with the starters, or all the attention of the coaches 100%, gets cut none? Nah.
Now maybe you have inside information (let's hear it?) or you've been privy to all Niner practices, workouts, meetings and such. And you know something concrete the rest of us don't, your assessment is not close to being an educated one.
