Depth. And to hurt the Seahawks. Even if the Seachickens bring in someone better they have to teach them their system. And probably pay them more.

Depth player, is all.
Only reason I like it is because it makes Seattle's greatest weakness even weaker, but I doubt that was Lynch's motivation. Always good to be on the lookout for gettable RFAs though. Sometimes teams stash valuable assets hoping no one will take a second look.

Yep, depth is what I see,and hurting the Seahawks probably wasn't intentional but it is a bonus. Especially good timing to have them have to scramble a bit extra before the draft.

Backup with starting experience. Makes drafting a tackle early less likely.

- A low cost signing at a position of need that will provide depth and competition at the very least.
- Further weakens our most dangerous rival's already suspect o-line in a draft with few viable replacements
I like it

You need depth players. He will be a backup for a reason but he has experience. Plus its a one year deal.

1 year 2.2 mil.....obviously he wasn't that important to seattle. That's a painless deal to match....Keep a starter for 2.2 mil. They were glad to give him away. Waited a whole 15mins to decline

Also he brings with him at least some intel to help the O-line and offense in general how to play (at least conceptually) against the seacawk-style defense. Can also be beneficial with helping Niner D learning/mastering their new scheme, with practicing against it a ton himself.

Feels very Eric Pears esque but it's only a one year deal that could have been longer had Gilliam taken the first offer. That atleast tells me he's motivated to coral a one year prove it deal into more money next year in unrestricted free agency. At the very least he provides experience at both left and right tackle and will push the competition a bit on the right side.
